Periods and Locations

This category provides information about the rooms/classrooms and class meeting periods. The Periods and Locations category includes the following data views and resources:

Locations (Rooms)

This view captures a detailed list of Locations (Rooms) successfully published to AzEDS in the Location entity within the Education Organization interchange. The layout provides the School Name, Room Number, Last Publish Date, and the Publishing ID.

This entity represents the physical space where students gather for a particular class/section. The location may be an indoor or outdoor area designated for the purpose of meeting the educational needs of students.

Selection Criteria

Records are published if the following criteria are met:

• The school must not be excluded from state reporting.
• The room is assigned to at least one course section based on [Sections]Room.

Entity Output

• A single record is published for each room or classroom at each school if the room has been assigned to at least one course section.
• For tuitioned-out schools, a separate location record will publish for each unique School Entity ID override entered at a valid student school enrollment for the publishing year.
• A default value of "OPEN" is published as the ClassroomIdentificationCode for any course sections where [Sections]Room is blank.
• The Location entity is not dependent on the prior publishing of other Ed-Fi entities.
• LEAs and Schools may upload (publish) data to the ODS in real time or on demand ("Run Now" button).

Class Periods

This view captures a detailed list of Class Periods successfully published to AzEDS in the Class Period entity within the Education Organization interchange. The layout provides the School Name, Period Name, Period Number, Last Publish Date, and the Publishing ID.

This entity represents the designation of a regularly scheduled series of class meetings at designated times and days of the week.

Selection Criteria

Records are published if the following criteria are met:

• The school must not be excluded from state reporting.

Entity Output

• A single record is published for each unique class period at each school based on the year for the Term selected in the PowerSchool UI.
• For tuitioned-out schools, a separate classPeriod record will publish for each unique School Entity ID override entered at a valid student school enrollment for the publishing year.
• The ClassPeriod entity is not dependent on the prior publishing of other Ed-Fi entities.
• LEAs and Schools may upload (publish) data to the ODS in real time or on demand ("Run Now" button).
