Rules for Defining Incidents
Use the following rules when defining discipline incidents using Incident Management.
Incident Type |
State reportable incidents may be associated with one of the following incident types:
Note: This value is not currently used to determine state reportable data. |
Offender |
At least one offender must be defined for each incident. |
Behaviors |
At least one behavior (violation) must be defined for each offender. Of the behaviors assigned to an offender, one must be defined as the primary behavior. Note: After you create a behavior for a participant, you must drag the behavior to the participant to associate the two elements. |
Actions |
At least one action must be associated with each behavior (violation). Note: After you create an action in response to a behavior, you must drag the action to the behavior to associate the two elements. After the action is associated with the behavior, it no longer appears under the Incident Elements heading. |
Victim |
It is not necessary to define victims to report an incident, but they should be defined if possible. To be reported, victims must be assigned at least one action, but must not be assigned any behaviors. |
Witness |
It is not necessary to define witnesses to report an incident, but they should be defined if possible. To be reported, witnesses must not be assigned any behaviors and do not have any state reportable actions. |
Reporter |
At least one reporter must be defined for each incident. Reporters must not be assigned any actions or behaviors. |
Attribute |
Incident attributes are not required for incidents to be reported, but should be defined if an applicable attribute exists for the incident. Participant attributes are not required for incidents to be reported, but should be defined for participants if applicable. |
