Expelled Attendance

General Information

  • This document provides guidance on how to set up the data and publish the student’s expelled attendance data using Ed-Fi Data Exchange.

  • Ed-Fi publishing of Expelled Attendance Students' data uses data elements from the concurrent and the current school enrollment records from the Transfer Information page.

Required Setup/Data

The following setup items are required for the publishing of Expelled Attendance data:

  • The student must have an STN Number.

  • The student must not be excluded from the State Reporting.

  • The student’s school must not be excluded from the State Reporting.

  • Valid Student School Enrollment within the school year and with (33) Student who is Serving an Expulsion as the Dropout or Mobility Code.

  • A concurrent school enrollment record with (33) Student who is Serving an Expulsion as the Dropout or Mobility Code enables the admin to select the same school as the home school.

  • The Entry Date of the Concurrent School Enrollment record must be equal to the Exit Date of the Current School Enrollment record.

  • The ADM Type must be blank for the Concurrent School enrollment record.

Publishing Notes

  • The Expelled Attendance Records get published automatically for all the in-session days from the beginning till the end date -1 of the Concurrent Enrollment Record.

  • If the student returns before the End Date of the concurrent enrollment, then the End Date of the concurrent enrollment record must be modified to an earlier date. So, that the expelled attendance records for the removed dates do not get published in the future or the deleted records are sent to the already published records for the removed dates. The student will have a current enrollment record for the same school.

  • If the expelled student does not return to the school within the District and the District receives a notification that the student has been enrolled in another District, then the concurrent enrollment records' end date must be modified to the correct date if required, so that the expelled attendance records do not get published anymore.

  • If the expulsion continues in the following school year, then a one-day mobility record must be created for the student with (33) Student who is Serving an Expulsion as the Dropout or Mobility Code and a concurrent enrollment record with (33) Student who is Serving an Expulsion as the Dropout or Mobility Code must be created in order to send the Expelled Attendance Records.
