Request CHIRP Immunization Data

Introduction

Data exchange enables schools and districts to request and download CHIRP student immunization data to PowerSchool. When PowerSchool requests immunization data from CHIRP, incoming records that already exist are ignored. PowerSchool determines whether an incoming record is new or existing by matching on the CVX code, student ID, student grade level, and the date the immunization was administered. Downloaded data is merged into the PowerSchool health tables for each student who meets the immunization download criteria.

For students who are new to the district, historical CHIRP data can be downloaded when the student has at least one PowerSchool immunization record that has been published to CHIRP.

Immunization Download Criteria

The student must meet the following criteria to be included in the data request:

• Student must not be excluded from CHIRP on the students's Health > Immunizations tab.

• The date the vaccine was administered must be between the student's data of birth and the current year.

• The student must have at least one record that has been published.

• The vaccine must have a valid CVX code in PowerSchool.

Request a CHIRP Immunization Data Download

To request the download of CHIRP immunization data into PowerSchool:

1. From the Start Page, under Data Exchange, click CHIRP. The CHIRP page appears.

2. For Request CHIRP Immunization Data, click Schedule. The CHIRP_IN IMMUNIZATIONREQ page appears.

3. Select an option for requesting data:

   • REQUEST MISSING - Request immunization data for authorized students with no download history.

   • REQUEST ALL - Request immunization data for all authorized students.

   • RETRY ERRORS - Retry requesting immunization data for students marked with an error status.

4. Under Scheduling, choose Run Now to run the request immediately or Schedule and select a date and time when the request should run.

5. Click Submit.

Review CHIRP Data in PowerSchool

To review current CHIRP data for students in PowerSchool:

1. On the Start Page, under Data Exchange, click CHIRP. The CHIRP Data Setup page appears.

2. For Request CHIRP Immunization Data, click Review. The Request CHIRP Immunization Data page appears.

3. Select an option from the drop-down list.

Statistical Summary

This data view displays the cumulative statistics for requests for student Immunization data from the CHIRP system.

Immunization Dependencies

Displays a list of students for which immunization data cannot be requested from the CHIRP system, along with the missing data dependencies. Review the dependency reason and update the student record(s) with the missing data as appropriate.

Immunization Requests

Displays a list of the most recent successful requests for immunization data from CHIRP. This data was downloaded to PowerSchool.

Immunization Download Summary

Displays a summary of the most recent immunization data downloaded from CHIRP, including the vaccine name and code.

Immunization Errors

A detailed list of the most recent attempts to request immunization data from the CHIRP system that resulted in failure. Review the information received from the CHIRP system and correct where necessary.
