Graduation Pathway File Report | PowerSchool SIS Compliance

Introduction

The Graduation Pathway File provides a comprehensive view of graduation readiness for currently enrolled high school students in grades 9–12. This report generates one record per student, combining the standard First 55 demographic fields with key graduation-related data points. These include diploma type, cumulative GPA, total credits required and earned, credits earned by subject area, and an overall on‑track indicator.

Report Requirements

Graduation Sets or Graduation Plans must have State Diploma Type and Diploma Credit Area values configured.
A GPA Calculation Method must be defined in PowerSchool (Start Page > District > GPA Calculation Methods).
Students must be enrolled in grade 9 or above and active on the selected Report Date.

Student Selection Criteria

Students are now included in the Graduation Pathway File if they meet all of the following criteria:

The student was enrolled in the school at any point between the specified Start Date and End Date.
The student has at least one StoredGrade record with Potential Credit Hours greater than zero for the current school year.
The student's grade level is 9 or higher (grades 9–12).

Multi-School Enrollment

If a student attended more than one high school within the same district during the reporting period, the student is reported at the last (most recently attended) school only. The report generates one record per student, per Resident District ID and Attending School ID.

Reporting Students Who Transferred Out

The threshold for determining whether a student should be reported at your institution is whether the student attempted credit(s). This means:

A student who started taking courses within your resident district or attending school should be reported even if the student transferred out mid-year before receiving any credits.
If final grades were transcripted in your SIS for the student — including grades such as Withdrawal (W), No Grade, or Incomplete — the student should be reported.

Report Input

Field	Description
Select Schools	Select one or more schools. Only schools not excluded from state reporting are available.
Students to Include	Select "All students" or "Current selection of students"
Report Date	The effective date for determining student enrollment. Students active on this date are included.
Start Date	The beginning of the reporting period. Used to determine student enrollment eligibility.
End Date	The end of the reporting period. Used to determine student enrollment eligibility.
Calculate GPA Using	Select the GPA calculation method defined in PowerSchool to compute cumulative GPA.
Report Data Based On	Determines whether Diploma Type and Credit Area data is derived from Graduation Sets or Graduation Plans.
HS Entry Cohort Year XXYY	The High School entry cohort year in XXYY format (e.g. 2526 for 2025-2026). Used for On-Track calculation.
Minimum Number of Credits Earned (HS Cohort Year)	The minimum number of credits a student in the specified HS cohort year must have earned to be considered "On Track."

Report Output

The report generates a CSV file with the naming pattern: OR_GradPathway_[SchoolNumber]_[Timestamp].csv

One row is exported per qualifying student.
