Graduation Pathway / Course Grade History Reporting Guidance

Two new reports have been added to allow reporting of Graduation Pathway, and Course Grade History data to ODE. The 2025-26 school year is a pilot year, with all districts expected to report the files for the 2026-27 school year. This is an end-of-the-year submission.

This article discusses new and pre-existing setup elements required for the successful reporting of Graduation Pathway and Course Grade History data.

General Overview

Course Grade History Report

The course grade history file reports students in grade levels 9 and above, who:

  • Are not excluded from state reporting

  • Have a school enrollment within the report date range

  • Have at least one historical grade that has potential credit (a final grade), where the grade is not excluded from transcripts

The course grade history file includes Historical Grades, where:

  • The grade has potential credit > 0

  • The grade is not excluded from transcripts

  • Grades from previous school years are reported

Diploma Credit Areas

Diploma Credit Area is determined by the setup in Graduation Sets or Graduation Plans. See below for more information about how Graduation Sets or Plans impact the Course Grade History Report.

Graduation Pathway File

The graduation progress file reports students in grade levels 9 and above, who:

  • Are not excluded from state reporting

  • Have a school enrollment within the report date range

  • Have at least one historical grade that has potential credit (a final grade), where the grade is not excluded from transcripts

Diploma Type

Diploma Type is determined by looking at the new field added to the Graduation Sets or Graduation Plans screens.

Graduation Progress Credits Earned and Required

A student’s progress towards a graduation requirement is determined by how graduation sets or plans are configured, with credits exceeding the individual requirement rolling to the Electives requirement.

Cumulative GPA

Calculated by looking at the GPA Calculation Method selected at report run-time.

On Track Flag

The On Track Flag in the Graduation Pathway file uses the same logic as is used in the ‘Freshman On-Track File’. When running the report, enter the 4-digit cohort year (Ex: 2526) for your 9th grade students and enter the number of credits reequired to be ‘on-track’.

New Setup Elements

The new Course Grade History and Graduation Pathway File reports use fields commonly included in a High School Transcript. The reports also use information commonly configured on a student’s Graduation Progress screen (Graduation Sets or Graduation Plans).

New state reporting fields have been added to the Student Historical Course Grades, Graduation Sets, and Graduation Plans screens to collect Oregon-specific requirements used by these reports.

For general information about configuring Graduation Sets and Plans, see the following articles:

Graduation Plan District Setup

Graduation Sets and Plans

State Diploma Type

A new field is added to the Graduation Sets and Graduation Plans configuration screens to specify the ‘State Diploma Type’ for the ‘Graduation Requirement Set/Plan’

  • Sets: Navigate to Start Page > School Management > Postsecondary Plans > Graduation Sets > then select a Graduation Set name

  • Plans: Navigate to Start Page > District Management > Postsecondary Plans > Graduation Plans for Schools > then select a Graduation Plan name

  • Select a ‘State Diploma Type’ (saved automaticlly)

  • Students assigned this Graduation Set on their Modify Info Screen will be reported as this State Diploma Type in the Graduation Pathway File

    • Note: For Graduation Plans, if students are assigned multiple Graduation Plans on their Postsecondary > Graduation Plan Selection screen, then the highest-ranked will be used (first listed in the box)

Diploma Credit Area and Required Credits

A new field is added to the Graduation Sets ‘Edit Requirements’ and Graduation Plan Requirements screens to specify the state ‘Diploma Credit Area’ for the Graduation Requirement

  • Sets: Navigate to Start Page > School Management > Postsecondary Plans > Edit Requirements > then click the name of a Requirement

  • Plans: Navigate to Start Page > District Management > Postsecondary Plans > click a Graduation Plan name > then click the name of a Requirement

  • Select a state ‘Diploma Credit Area’ that this Subject Area relates to, then submit

    • Note: Multiple Subject Areas can be configured with the same state ‘Diploma Credit Area’. The report will SUM credits from multiple Subject Areas configured with the same state ‘Diploma Credit Area’.

  • Repeat for all Subject Areas within a Graduation Set/Plan.

  • Required Credits:

    • Total Credits Required: Sum of all ‘Prerequisite Hours’ from all Subject Areas in a Graduation Set/Plan

    • Credits Required for each Subject Area: Sum of all 'Prerequisite Hours' from Subject Areas having the same state ‘Diploma Credit Area’ within a Graduation Set/Plan.

Student Historical Grades

Transfer Credits

A new field is added to the student Historical Course Grades screen to flag a grade as a Transfer Grade (Received Transfer Flag). Check this box for all grades a student received before attending your District.

  • Note: When this box is checked, the School Name entered when creating/importing the grades will be reported.

SCED Course Code

A new field is added to the student Historical Course Grades screen to collect SCED Course Code for grades not associated with a course.section within your PowerSchool, but the student earned while attending your District.

  • Note: SCED Course Code is not required for Transfer Credits

Required Setup

  • Configure State Diploma Type on either the Graduation Sets or Graduation Plans screens

  • Specify a Diploma Credit Area for each Requirement in your Grad Sets or Plans

  • Make sure all High School Students are assigned either a Grad Set or Plan

  • Flag all Transfer Credits to have the Received Transfer Flag box checked
