Oregon Dual Language Enrollment Check

Overview

The Dual Language Enrollment Check finds students whose Dual Language program enrollments and Dual Language class enrollments don't match.

  • Class with no matching program. The student is enrolled in a section of a Dual Language course, but no Dual Language Student Program enrollment covers the class entry date.

  • Program with no matching class. The student is enrolled in a Dual Language Student Program, but has no Dual Language class with an entry date within the program dates.

Resolve these problems before you submit Dual Language data to the state. You can filter the results, export them, or make the listed students your current selection. Then use PowerSchool's Mass Enroll functions to add the missing program or class enrollments.

Start Page > Courses and Programs > Dual Language Enrollment Check

Tip: Use the Dual Language Program Export to review every Dual Language program enrollment, including Program Model Type Code and Partner Language.

Students checked

The function checks every student enrolled at the current school at any point during the selected school year:

  • School year dates run from the earliest term first day to the latest term last day for the selected year at the current school (Terms.FirstDay / Terms.LastDay).

  • Enrollments come from both current enrollments (Students) and earlier enrollments (ReEnrollments). The student is included if any enrollment at the school overlaps the school year.

Dual Language definitions

Item

How it's identified

Dual Language course

The course is flagged as a Dual Language course (S_OR_CRS_X.DualLangFg = 1).

Dual Language program

The special program has the Oregon Program Type Dual Language (Gen.Cat = 'specprog' and Gen.Value = 'DUAL').

Blank program exit date

Treated as still enrolled. PowerSchool stores a blank exit date as 01/01/1900.

Type 1: Class with no matching program

A row is listed for each Dual Language class enrollment where all of these are true:

  1. The class enrollment is at the current school and overlaps the school year.

  2. The course is flagged as Dual Language.

  3. No Dual Language program enrollment for the student at the same school has:

    • a Program Entry Date on or before the Course Entry Date, and

    • a Program Exit Date on or after the Course Entry Date, or a blank exit date.

Type 2: Program with no matching class

A row is listed for each Dual Language program enrollment where all of these are true:

  1. The program enrollment is at the current school and overlaps the school year.

  2. The student has no Dual Language class enrollment at the same school, in a term of the selected year, with a Course Entry Date that is:

    • on or after the Program Entry Date, and

    • on or before the Program Exit Date, or any date if the exit date is blank.

Important: It isn't enough for the class and program dates to overlap. The class entry date must fall within the program dates. For example, if a student enters a Dual Language class on 08/25 but the program starts on 09/01, the class is listed as having no matching program. This matches the logic on the student-level Dual Language page.

To use the Enrollment Check

  1. Go to the school you want to check, and choose a term in the school year you want to check.

  2. Go to Start Page > Courses and Programs > Dual Language Enrollment Check.

  3. Review the results. To narrow the list, click a column's filter icon.

  4. Do any of the following:

    • Click Export Filtered Records or Export All Records to download a CSV file.

    • Click Make Filtered Records Current Selection or Make All Records Current Selection.

    • Click a Student Number or Course Section link to open that record in a new tab.

  5. With the students selected, use PowerSchool's Mass Enroll functions to enroll them in the missing Dual Language program or class.

  6. Run the Enrollment Check again to confirm the problems are fixed.

Reading a row

  • Type 1 (class with no matching program): The program columns are blank, and the course columns are filled in.

  • Type 2 (program with no matching class): The course columns are blank, and the program columns are filled in.

A student can appear on more than one row, for example if they're in two Dual Language sections with no matching program.

What to check

A student is listed even though they have both a program and a class

Compare the dates. The Course Entry Date must be on or after the Program Entry Date and on or before the Program Exit Date. Just overlapping isn't enough. Also check that both records are at the same school.

A student in a Dual Language class isn't listed

Check that the course is flagged as Dual Language and that the class enrollment is at the current school and overlaps the selected year.

Classes at another school aren't checked

The function only checks classes at the student's enrolled school. Remote or concurrent class enrollments at other schools aren't included.

The function isn't in the menu

It's only available at the school level. Switch from the District Office to a school.

The page is slow to load

Large schools can take a while to load. Wait for the page to finish before you filter or export.
