SPED Intensity of Service

Introduction

For the 2026-2027 school year, Texas districts must report special education data under both the legacy and new funding models. Districts must continue reporting the instructional arrangement and setting code. Districts must also begin reporting the new Tier of Intensity, applicable SPED Service Groups, and average Number of Minutes in SPED values.

This tab allows users to maintain the required student-level data:

  • Tier of Intensity

  • SPED Service Groups 1–3 and 4–5

  • Number of Minutes in SPED

  • Applicable begin and end dates

This separates the new funding-model data from the legacy instructional-arrangement and setting-code fields, helping districts prepare accurate PEIMS Attendance and Summer submissions

Note: A student can be active in two service groups at the same time, one from Service Groups 1 through 3 and one from Service Groups 4 or 5.
