Get Started With PowerSchool SIS Compliance

This guide will assist you in configuring PowerSchool to meet the specific requirements for Texas state Reporting.

State Reporting Setup  

This section provides the required setup elements for Texas State Reporting. Ensure that setup elements are populated with report-specific details before running the reports. 

System Setup  

Required Data Elements 

  1. Go to Start Page > System Setup

  2. Click on the School link at the top of the page to reveal the school list. 

  3. Choose "District Office" from the pop-up menu. The district start page appears. 

  4. Click "System" under Setup. The System Administrator page appears. 

Note: For more information on code values, see the Appendix. 

District Setup  

Required Permissions 

 To complete tasks for District Setup, ensure you have permissions to work with district-level data. 

  1. On the Start Page, click the school link. The school list appears. 

  2. Choose "District Office" from the pop-up menu. The district start page appears. 

  3. Under Setup, click "District." The District Setup page appears.

School Setup  

Required Permissions 

 To complete tasks for School Setup, ensure you have permissions to work with school-level data. 

  1. On the Start Page, click the school link. The school list appears. 

  2. Choose a school from the pop-up menu. The school start page appears. 

  3. Under Setup, click "School." The School Setup page appears.

Staff Setup  

Required Permissions 

  To complete tasks for Staff Setup, ensure you have permissions to work with school or district-level data. 

  1. On the Start Page, click "New Staff Entry" in the left panel for adding a new staff member. 

  2. OR, to open an existing staff member page, click the "Staff" tab and search for the staff member. 

  3. If the Staff Member page appears, choose a staff member from the list.

Student Setup  

Required Permissions 

  To complete tasks for Student Setup, ensure you have permissions to work with school or district-level data. 

  1. On the Start Page, click "Enroll New Student" in the left panel for adding a new student. 

  2. OR, to open an existing student record, click the "Student" tab and search for the student. 

  3. If the search results show mul9ple students, click the student's name under Current Student Selection.

Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC)  

Refer to this section for Texas state CRDC setup items at the District, School, Staff, and Student levels, and for CRDC report details. 

Setup for TSDS

If the LEA is building staff responsibility records in PowerSchool for administrative staff such as Nurses, Diagnosticians, Principals, Assistant Principals, Superintendents, etc., additional setup is required for PowerSchool to include these "courses" in the Educational Organization and Staff Association Interchanges.

  1. On the Start Page, click Districts.

  2. Navigate to District > Schools/School Info.

  3. Click New.

  4. Enter the School Name, School Abbrevia9on, School Number, and select Exclude from State Reporting.
    PowerSchool recommends that the name of the school be State XXX, such as State 701, State 702, State 703, etc.
    PowerSchool recommends that the abbreviation be ST701, ST702, ST703, etc.
    The School Number must be 701, 702, 703, 720, 750, 751, 998 or 999. It cannot be any other school number.
    Make sure that you exclude these schools from state Reporting.

  5. Click Submit.

  6. Repeat for all the schools that need to be created.
