Common: Discipline Incident Letters Update

Discipline Incident Letter

Resolved an issue where Discipline Incident Letters would display all action codes associated with an incident, even when configured to filter for a specific Action Code and with "Include All Actions" set to No. This ensures that parent correspondence accurately reflects only the intended disciplinary actions.

DEX: Student Participation Data Viewer Update

On the Data Publishing page of the student, the Student Participation summary now includes both the Exit Date and Exit Reason whenever a student has exited the program. Field labels have been streamlined -e.g., (Prog Name), (Prog Type), (Entry Date), (Exit Date), (Exit Reason)- to ensure all information fits cleanly on the screen without horizontal scrolling or text truncation.

SIF Unity: Automatic Change Detection for Lunch History

PowerSchool now automatically detects and publishes updates made to student Lunch History records for the current school year to the Oklahoma Wave/State ODS. Administrators no longer need to perform a full manual republish to sync lunch status or economic disadvantage changes made through the Lunch History page.

What’s New

  • Automated Publishing via Data Change Framework (DCF):

    • Change detection is now extended to the Lunch History table (S_STU_LUNCH_C).

    • Editing or adding lunch records (including Lunch Status, Start/End Dates, Reported Value, Economic Disadvantage Value, Lunch Eligibility, School ID, or Notes) immediately triggers an automated update to the state.

  • Affected Programs:

    • Lunch Program (Free/Reduced): Program Type Other Codes: S010–S015.

    • Economic Disadvantage: Program Type Other Code 0900.

  • Current and Historical Record Synchronization:

    • The most current lunch record continues to publish from the student record, while historical records publish directly from Lunch History.

    • Unique reference identifiers (RefIDs) transition consistently as active records move into history, preventing duplicate or deleted StudentParticipation records at the state.

This automation triggers whenever student lunch or economic disadvantage information on the Lunch History page changes, automatically queuing and publishing the update to the Oklahoma Wave/State ODS.

SIF Unity: Student Attendance Summary Update

To support the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) Wave reporting requirements for School Year 2026–2027, the SIF Unity StudentAttendanceSummary publishing profile has been updated to include and dynamically report the extended TimePeriod element.

What’s New

  • Automatic TimePeriod Determination:

    • FQSR (First Quarter Statistical Report): When publishing data prior to January 1 of the current school year, the TimePeriod extended element automatically publishes as FQSR.

    • ASR (Annual Statistical Report): When publishing data on or after January 1 of the current school year, the TimePeriod extended element publishes as ASR.

  • Full-Year / Multi-Enrollment Rollover:

    • Attendance records associated with the first 9 weeks of school that are part of full-year reporting are updated to reflect ASR when published after January 1.

  • Attendance Summary Data Viewer:

    • The Attendance Summary Data Viewer now displays the updated Time Period field (FQSR / ASR) for published student attendance summary records, providing administrators clear visibility before and after transmission.

Action Required

  • Districts must run a “Publish All” operation for Student Attendance Summary once after applying the update.

  • PowerSchool recommends that you do that after the first quarter has ended so that OSDE receives a full sync of the student’s attendance summary data.

SIF Unity: Student Participation > Lunch and Economic Disadvantaged Programs Update

Previously, when submitting student participation records to the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE), students flagged with Lunch Eligibility of FR20 (Economic Disadvantaged by Income Survey / Form, but paying full price) published a National School Lunch Program record (04922). Because code FR20 signifies economic disadvantage without Free or Reduced meal eligibility, only the Economic Disadvantaged program (0900) should be reported, unless specific school meal provisions apply.

Therefore, the Student Participation publishing logic has been updated to correctly align with Oklahoma state reporting rules:

  • Traditional Enrollment (No Override): Students with Lunch Eligibility code FR20 (or 20) will now publish only the Economic Disadvantaged program record (0900) with placement reason FR20. The National School Lunch Program record (04922) is excluded.

  • Community Eligibility / Provision Overrides: If a student with Lunch Eligibility code FR20 has an active Lunch Status Override set to Community Eligible (CE), Provision 2 (PR2), or Provision 3 (PR3):

    • The student continues to publish the Economic Disadvantaged program (0900) with placement reason FR20.

    • The student also publishes the National School Lunch Program (04922) with placement reason FRNA.

  • Standard Free / Reduced Codes: Students with eligible Free or Reduced lunch codes (e.g., FR01, FR03, FR08, FR10, FR12, etc.) continue to publish the National School Lunch Program (04922) and the Economic Disadvantaged program (0900) as expected.

User Impact & Action Required

  • No data entry changes are required by district administrators.

  • In the DEX > Data Viewer > Student Participation view, records for students with code FR20 will reflect the updated inclusion/exclusion rules.

  • Any status transitions between FR20 and eligible meal codes will automatically be processed and synchronized with OSDE WAVE via the Data Change Framework (DCF).

    • When publishing records for the Oklahoma Career Concentrator program, the Program Type Code is published as 04931 (Co-curricular Programs).
