Student Programs Dashboard

Student Programs Dashboard

Description

The Student Programs Dashboard provides a centralized location for reviewing Connecticut Student Program records. The dashboard supports current and historical program review, filtering, CSV export, navigation to student and program records, and creation of a current student selection.

The dashboard can run at the school or district level. School-level access limits results to the current school. District-level access supports all schools or an individual school.

Student Program access is controlled through Security User Roles. Programs without access do not appear in the Student Program selection or dashboard results.

Selection Criteria

Selection criteria determine which Student Program records appear on the dashboard.

  • At the district level, the dashboard can include all schools or an individual school.

  • At the school level, the dashboard includes records for the current school only.

  • Student status can include active students, inactive students, or all students.

  • Program record status can include active records, historical records, or all records.

  • Date criteria support current and historical Student Program review.

  • Leaving the date fields blank returns results without a date restriction.

Dashboard Input

Navigate to Data and Reporting > Student Programs Dashboard.

Field

Description

School

At the district level, select All Schools or an individual school. At the school level, the dashboard limits results to the current school.

Student Program

Select the Student Program to include in the results. Available programs depend on access configured through Security User Roles.

Student Status

Select Active Students, Inactive Students, or All Students.

Program Record Status

Select Active Program Records, Historical Program Records, or All Program Records. Historical records include programs that have ended.

Start Date

Enter a start date to filter Student Program participation. Leave blank to return results without a start-date restriction.

End Date

Enter an end date to filter Student Program participation. Leave blank to return results without an end-date restriction.

Date Criteria

Use the Start Date and End Date fields to review Student Program participation for a specific date or reporting period.

For example, entering the same census date as the applicable start and end criteria can identify Student Program participation for that historical reporting point. Leaving both date fields blank returns results across the available Student Program records without a date restriction.

Current school and grade information remains current when historical Student Program records are displayed. Historical date criteria do not change these values to the student's school or grade during the historical program period.

Dashboard Output

The dashboard displays Student Program information in a tabular format. Student and program links provide direct access to the associated PowerSchool SIS records. Results can also be exported to CSV.

Select a Student Name from the dashboard results to open the student's Demographics page.

Open a Student Program Record

Select the Student Program from the dashboard results to open the corresponding Student Program record.

Export Dashboard Results

Select Export to CSV to export the records returned by the current dashboard criteria.

The export includes Student Program information such as:

  • Student Name

  • Student number

  • SASID

  • School name and number

  • Current grade level

  • Program start date

  • Program end date

  • Program indicator

Make a Current Student Selection

Select Make Current Student Selection to create a current student selection from the dashboard results.

When a student appears on multiple dashboard rows because of multiple Student Program records, the current student selection includes the student once rather than creating duplicate student selections.

Student Program Security

Security User Roles control access to Connecticut Student Programs.

  • Programs with access appear in the Student Program selection.

  • Programs without access do not appear.

  • Dashboard results exclude records for programs without access.

  • School-level access limits results to the applicable school.

  • District-level access supports all schools or an individual school.

For example, a role configured for Section 504 access without Homeless access can review Section 504 records without exposing Homeless program information through the dashboard. The implemented security controls were demonstrated during the Connecticut PowerSchool SIS Focus Group.

Configure Student Program access through Security User Roles before granting access to the Student Programs Dashboard.
