NOVA 2026–2027: Staff Section Publishing Updates

The publishing logic for the classroomPositionDescriptor field on staffSectionAssociation records has been updated to support the new Team Teacher 1 & 2 Role fields. This update ensures that staff roles are reported accurately to Ed-Fi, improving data quality for New Mexico state reporting.

Rules

  • When a staff record is generated from the Team Teacher 1 or Team Teacher 2 Name fields, the system now publishes the classroomPositionDescriptor value based on the corresponding Team Teacher Role field.

  • If the Team Teacher Role field is left blank, the system defaults to publishing the descriptor as "Educational Assistant" (matching prior behavior).

Who Is Affected

Districts in New Mexico using Ed-Fi publishing with Team Teacher assignments in their sections for the 2026–2027 school year.

Action Required

No manual action is required. Districts using the Team Teacher 1 & 2 Role fields will see accurate role descriptors published going forward.

  • Multiple behaviors and none marked as primary - Element is not published
