A new resource named studentSection504ProgramAssociations is created to track and manage Section 504 program associations for students with specific eligibility indicators. The resource includes all mandatory elements from the existing studentProgramAssociations resource and introduces a new mandatory element called section504Eligibility.

The Learning Modality and Section 504 errors in the 25–26 ODS StudentProgramAssociations have been fixed. The deprecated Modality descriptor issue has been addressed, and validation logic was added to prevent submission of the 504 descriptor to StudentProgramAssociations.

The homeroomIndicator field is now properly published and available through the /studentSectionAssociation resource. If the S_SEC_X.HomeroomIndicator field is populated, it will be true; otherwise, it will be false. This change is effective for the 25-26 school year and onwards.

Ed-Fi (SY 25-26): Create staffEducationOrganizationContactAssociations Resource for Staff Emails

A new resource endpoint, /staffEducationOrganizationContactAssociations, has been created to report staff email addresses for staff members who have worked in multiple LEAs and possess multiple email addresses. The resource will send the staff email along with the staff information and is specifically applicable for public schools. Staff references are known by SSN, and the resource will prioritize staff based on their status at the Home School and their activity level.

The API resource "studentParentAssociations" has been renamed to "studentContactAssociations" to align with the Ed-Fi Contacts model. The change ensures consistency for API consumers to update their systems. The old "studentParentAssociations" endpoint is deprecated and will now redirect or provide a warning, while the new "studentContactAssociations" endpoint is fully functional and supports all existing operations.

The update involves discontinuing the reasonExitedDescriptor field before the 2025 school year and adding the specialEducationExitReasonDescriptor field for the 2025-26 school year in the StudentSpecialEducationProgramAssociation resource. This change is specifically required for public schools, where the specialEducationExitReasonDescriptor will replace the reasonExitedDescriptor in the StudentSpecialEducationProgramAssociation.

WI Ed-Fi (SY 25-26): Update Resource Endpoints from "Parents" to "Contacts"

The API has been updated from the deprecated /ed-fi/parents endpoint to the new /ed-fi/contacts endpoint to align with the latest Ed-Fi standards. This change affects both Public and Choice Schools, discontinuing parentUniqueId and introducing contactUniqueId for the 25/26 school year and beyond. The old /ed-fi/parents endpoint will be deprecated to return a redirect or appropriate warning, while the new /ed-fi/contacts endpoint must be fully functional and handle all existing operations. ContactUniqueId will replace parentUniqueId in the Contacts resource for the 25/26 school year onward.
