TN Ed-Fi Demographics Resource: Non Lunch Classifications Dates Update

The system publishes Non-Lunch Student Characteristic Classification records when the following conditions are met:

• The begin date of the classification falls within the current school year’s start and end dates, as defined in the school setup.

• If an end date is provided, the begin date must be earlier than the end date.

Publishing Details

• Begin Date:
  Published exactly as entered in the Classification Begin Date field on the student’s Non-Lunch Classification page.

• End Date:

  • Optional.

  • If provided, it is published as entered.

  • If left blank, it is not published.

  • No additional validation is applied beyond ensuring the begin date precedes the end date (if one exists).

Additional Notes

• Duplicate Handling: The studentCharacteristicDescriptor array must not contain duplicate values. If a student has multiple records with the same classification type, only the record with the most recent begin date is published, regardless of whether it has an end date.

• Exclusions: The "Gift" classification is excluded from publishing, consistent with the behavior of the EIS Report.

• Multiple Enrollments: Since this logic is tied to the Demographics resource and not to individual Enrollments, students with multiple school enrollments are not impacted. The classification data is published independently of enrollment records.

TN EdFi: Session(terms) Resource Update

The system now excludes school terms with no in-session days from being published to Ed-Fi, preventing unnecessary errors and improving data accuracy.

What’s Changed

• Terms (e.g., exam periods) that do not contain any in-session dates are no longer published.

• This prevents publishing errors such as those previously seen on the dashboard for sessions without instructional days.
