CHIRP Errors

PowerSchool displays CHIRP transmission failures in Immunization Errors views using values returned by CHIRP.

Error Code

The code returned by CHIRP for the failed publish or request.

Message Detail

The detailed CHIRP response message describing the failure reason.

Note:

  • Error Code and Message Detail are returned by CHIRP at runtime.

  • New CHIRP-side validations may produce new codes/messages without a PowerSchool code change.

Most Common Resolution Workflow

  1. Open Immunization Errors in CHIRP Review.

  2. Sort by Error Code and Message Detail to identify repeated failures.

  3. Correct source data in PowerSchool based on the CHIRP message.

  4. Verify required setup:

  • Student Unique ID is populated.

  • Vaccine has valid Legacy CVX Code.

  • Student is not excluded from CHIRP exchange.

  1. Rerun using Retry Errors (or Publish Missing/Request Missing as appropriate).

  2. Confirm records move from Errors/Dependencies to Published/Requests.
