Manitoba – Student Indigenous Identity Declaration (IID) Updates for September 2026

PowerSchool SIS has been updated to reflect Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning's revised Student Indigenous Identity Declaration (IID) form requirements effective September 2026. A new Indigenous Cultural Group code, Red River Métis (Code 201) is now available for selection in the Student Details section, while the legacy Métis (Code 200) code has been disabled for new entries but continues to display correctly on existing student records. Additionally, the descriptions for active Indigenous Cultural-Linguistic Identity codes have been updated to align with revised ministry nomenclature (e.g., ininiwak/nehethowak (Cree), Anishinaabe (Ojibwe/Saulteaux)), and legacy codes 400 (Aboriginal - Other), 310 (Inuktituq), and 240 (Michif) have been deprecated for new selections while remaining visible on historical records.
