This object contains the marks entered for a student in a class section for a specific marking period. As this object is identified as a Gradebook application in SIF Specification 2.0r1, vendors may elect to provide this data via their Student Information System Agent or through their Gradebook Agent by registering a second agent in the district zone at the state to provide this data. Both methods of transmission of this data are approved.
Grades Publishing Updated
The CRDC Final Grades configuration can be used to configure final-grade setup to ensure that there is no dependency on hard‑coded store codes. This ensures that Trimester grades (e.g., T1, T2, T3) and any other final grade store configurations are published. Schools using Semester final grade codes continue to publish as expected.
-
Updated Business Rule for publishing grades:
-
If the CRDC Final Grades setup is blank for a school and year:
-
The system defaults to S1 and S2, which matches the prior behavior.
-
-
If the CRDC Final Grades setup is not blank:
-
The system uses the configured CRDC Final Grades list as an override to determine which store codes to treat as final grades when publishing.
-
-
This behavior aligns with how the Legacy SIF Agent was designed (where customers configured the list of store codes to publish, defaulting to S1/S2 but allowing additional codes such as Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4, S1, S2, Y1, etc.).
-
-
Section / Term Matching
-
The section term must match the Final Grade (FG) term, and
-
The FG code must match the store code (per existing Middle School configuration patterns).
-
Publishing of Remote or other Schools Grades
-
Final grades earned in classes taken at other schools are included.
-
To ensure grades at remote classes are published, enrollment data from both the current enrollment (Students) and prior enrollments (ReEnrollments) is considered.
-
Existing filters are retained to ensure that:
-
Students flagged Exclude From Reporting are still excluded.
-
CRDC final grade store code configuration is honored:
-
When a CRDC configuration exists for the school/year with a
storecodelist, only those store codes are published. -
When no CRDC configuration exists, the default behavior is to publish only S1/S2 store codes.

Since the StudentSectionMarks contains a MarkList, it is possible for more than one grade to be assigned for this object for a particular term, and it is possible for all of the grades contained in the list to be IsFinal = true. The relevant grade or “report card” grade for the term (TermInfoRefId) associated with this object should be identified by placing the MarkInfoRefId from the MarkList in this ExtendedElement. If a relevant grade does not exist, then the SIF_ExtendedElement does not have to be supplied. The format for the RefId should contain no spaces or hyphens.
