Student Waiver Validations

Student waiver validations verify that data for specific fields used in the Student Waiver extract is populated correctly based on CALPADS rules. To indicate which of the student's waiver records is validated, the validations are associated with an exemption code, exemption outcome code, and the exemption outcome start date. This information is useful when the student has more than one waiver record during the report date range.

Education Regulatory Exemption Code

Exemption Code cannot be blank.

Choose a value from the Exemption Code field on the student’s CALPADS Waivers page, via Start Page > Student > State/Province – CA > Waivers.

Exemption Code is invalid.

Choose a valid value from the Exemption Code field on the student’s CALPADS Waivers page, via Start Page > Student > State/Province – CA > Waivers. The value may be invalid if it was imported or edited via DDA. Valid values are 1 – CAHSEE Math Waiver, 2 – CAHSEE ELA Waiver, or 3 – CAHSEE Exemption.

The student must have an active Special Education Program (144 or 101).

If the student has an exemption code of 1, 2, or 3, then the student must have a 144 or 101 program. The 144 or 101 program must be active on the exemption outcome date. Either edit the waiver record on the CALPADS Waivers page, or create a 144 program record with the appropriate date range via Start Page > Student > State/Province – CA > Program Eligibility.

When Exemption Code is 3 (CAHSEE Exemption), then the Outcome Code must be 1 (Granted).

If the student has an exemption code of 3 (CAHSEE Exemption), then the waiver record must have an outcome code of 1 (Granted). Edit the waiver record on the CALPADS Waivers page, via Start Page > Student > State/Province – CA > Waivers.

Exemption Outcome Code cannot be blank.

Choose a value from the Exemption Outcome Code field the CALPADS Waivers page, via Start Page > Student > State/Province – CA > Waivers.

Exemption Outcome Code is invalid.

Choose a valid value from the Exemption Outcome Code field on the CALPADS Waivers page. The value may be invalid if it was imported or edited via DDA. Valid values are 1 – Granted, 2 – Denied, or 3 – Withdrawn.

Education Regulatory Exemption Outcome Start Date

Exemption Outcome Start Date cannot be blank.

Enter the date on which the exemption outcome became effective in the Exemption Outcome Start Date field on the student’s CALPADS Waivers page.
