The following data elements are required for student setup.

  1. Click the School link at the top of the page.

  2. Choose the school that the student attends.

  3. Search for and select the student from the list.

  4. Update the applicable data elements as required for student setup.

  5. Tabs will be displayed based on the customized the Student Information tab settings at School/Distruct level

Sexual Orientation (Optional)

Choose the Sexual Orientation of the student: The term for someone’s romantic, emotional, physical, and/or sexual attraction to the same or different gender(s). Sexual orientation is distinct from gender identity.

Valid Values

  • Straight (Heterosexual): A person who is emotionally, romantically, or sexually attracted
    to people of a different gender.

  • Lesbian: A woman who is emotionally, romantically, or sexually attracted to other
    women. Women and non-binary people may use this term to describe themselves.

  • Gay: A person who is emotionally, romantically, or sexually attracted to people of the same gender. Men, women and non-binary people may use this term to describe themselves.
    Asexual: An asexual person is someone who does not experience sexual attraction to
    other people.

  • Bisexual: A person who is emotionally, romantically and/or sexually attracted to people
    of more than one gender, though not necessarily simultaneously, in the same way, or to
    the same degree.

  • Pansexual: A person who is attracted to people of all genders or regardless of gender.
    Not Sure/Questioning: A term used to describe people who are in the process of
    exploring their sexual orientation or gender identity.

15. Eligible for Immigrant Education Program

A student is considered an eligible immigrant child if:

  • the student is between the ages of 3–21,

  • the student was not born in any of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the student has attended schools in the U.S. for less than three full academic years.

16. Home Language Code

Choose the student’s home language (English or non-English) code.

If the student’s native language is English and a language other than English is spoken in the student’s home, you should select the home language that is the predominant non-English language spoken by:

  • the student in the student’s home; or

  • the student’s parents or legal guardians, with the student’s non-English language taking precedence.

Use Concurrent PDA (formerly FTE) enrollments for students who attend classes at their home school, where one or more of those classes are offered by a different serving school (still taught at the home school). For example, you would create a Concurrent PDA record to track a student who is enrolled in a special program, such as a CTE course offered by another serving school within their RCDTS Home School.

Concurrent PDA enrollment is different than concurrent enrollment; with a concurrent enrollment, the student is enrolled in more than one school, while a Concurrent PDA enrollment is like a "sub-enrollment" where students who attend classes at their home school are also enrolled in classes offered by a different serving school but still taught at their home school.

If there is a change in the PDA (formerly FTE) allocation or a change to the RCDTS Serving School, update the Concurrent PDA enrollment records accordingly. Since ISBE requires an Exiting Student and accompanying Demographics and Enrollment (re-entry) record to be submitted whether or not there has been a change to the PDA or Serving school, for accurate reporting results ensure the Concurrent PDA enrollment start and end dates are the same as the entry and exit dates of the main enrollment. This date alignment ensures the PDA value is always correct, regardless of whether a Concurrent PDA enrollment is active.
