Verified Credits Update Report

Introduction

This extract includes a list of verified credits for students in grade levels 9–12. Verified credits are awarded if the student completed a course and passed the related SOL test.

Report Setup

Prior to generating this report, complete the following setup:

  • Define all SOL tests at the district via Start Page > District Setup > Tests.
  • Define a “Passed” test score category at via Start Page > District Setup > Tests > Edit Scores. Set up a “Passed” only. This score is used to determine if a test is Pass Advanced, Pass Proficient, Locality Awarded, or Not Passed.
  • Assign an SOL test and an SOL test alternative (if applicable) to the appropriate courses to include them in the Verified Credits count via Start Page > District Setup > Courses > Edit Course District Information.
  • Enter test scores for each student who took an SOL test via Start Page > Student > Test Scores. In the Passed score field under the Alpha column, enter one of the following:
    • PA (indicates Pass Advanced)
    • PP (indicates Pass Proficient)
    • LA (indicates Locality Awarded)
    • [blank] (leave the field blank if the student did not pass the test)

    Note: When a Reading SOL test record is created for a student, you should also a Writing SOL test record, even if the student did not take both tests. Leave the Passed score blank for the test the student has yet to take. Verified credits are calculated only for the test the student took.

    Selection Criteria

    Selection criteria determine which database records are used in the report. Refer to selection criteria for analysis when the report does not return the correct records.

    • Student not excluded from state reporting.
    • Student in grade level 6 or higher.
    • School not excluded from state reporting.
    • School’s high grade equal to or greater than 6.
    • StoredGrades earning credits and having SOL test assigned to the course will be eligible for assignment of verified credit.
    • Student must have a SOL Test Score.

    Use

    Choose one of the following:

    • Current School Only – Includes all student records associated with the current school that meet selection criteria. To change the current school, click the School link at the top of the page and choose the appropriate school from the list.
    • All Schools – Includes all student records on the PowerSchool server that meet selection criteria.

    Note: The All Schools option is only available when running the report from the District Office.

    Students to Include

    Indicate which students to include in the report by selecting one of the following options:

    • The selected [number] students only – Run the report for students in the current selection.
      • All students – Run the report for all students in the current school or district that meet the selection criteria.

    Note: If running the report for a single student, or group of students, select the students prior to running report.

    Processing Options

    Choose a time to run the report from the pop-up menu:

    • In Background Now (Recommended) – Execute the report immediately in the background.
    • ASAP – Execute the report in the order it is received in the Report Queue.
    • At Night – Execute the report during the next evening.
    • On Weekend – Execute the report during the next weekend.
    • On Specific Time – Execute the report on the date and time specified.

    Specific Date/Time

    Enter a date using the format mm/dd/yyyy or mm-dd-yyyy in order to run the report on a specific day. The incorrect format displays an alert and the date field is submitted as a blank entry.

    Use the pop-up menus to schedule the report to be run at a specific hour and minute.

    Example: 7/29/2008 @ 10 AM: 05.

    Grade Range

    Choose the grade level range to include in the report. Use this parameter to include middle school students on the report.

    Report Output

    Each of the fields displayed in the output of the report are described below. See Understanding the Report Output Table for a definition of each column in the table.

    The course number assigned to this test. This field is extracted from Start Page > Student > Historical Grades > Edit Stored Grade.

    Test Score

    The score entered in the Alpha field for the Passed test score for the SOL Test. This field is extracted from Start Page > Student > Test Scores > Edit Student Test.

    The number of verified credits earned by the student. This field is calculated based on the student’s test score.
