SOL Testing Setup

Creating New SOL, VAAP, VSEP, 3E Vendor Tests

Navigation: District Management, Compliance, SOL and Vendor Testing

  1. On the Testing Setup page, select the applicable test. The list of the selected test displays

  2. Click New. The fields to add a new SOL Test appear.

  3. Use the following table to enter information in the fields:
    Note: The fields, Code, Name, Category, and Active apply to all tests. Other fields apply only to specific tests.

Field

Description

Code

Enter the test code provided by the VADOE. This is a required field.

Category

Choose the category the test belongs to. The list is ordered based on the category

Name

Enter the name of the test. This is a required field.

Description

Enter the description of the test.

Active

Select to set this test to Active status.

Graduation Subject Area

Select a subject area for assessments that are included in Graduation Credit only.
Note: If populated, the test may display on the Grad Credit Status student page.

Required for Federal Accountability (ESSA)

Select the Required for Federal Accountability (ESSA) checkbox for an assessment of a subject to indicate whether the student had met the federal graduation requirements for the subject.

Activation Date

Enter the earliest date of a term where the assessment was first scheduled.
Note: Field is used on the Verified Credit Status Page to determine which student test displays when multiple tests are assigned to a course/section. The student must be enrolled in class on or after the date entered.

Deactivation Date

Enter the last date of the term where the assessment was active.

  1. Click Submit. The test is added to the list of seeded tests on the page.

Setup for Substitute SOL Tests

Setup is available to create substitute tests that will take the place of a SOL Test. An example of a substitute test is an AP exam that a student may take in place of an SOL test. Another example is an Industry Credential Exam in lieu of an SOL Test.

If a verified credit needs to be awarded to a student on the basis of a student passing an Industry Credential Exam, the Industry Credential Exam must be set up as a substitute test.

  1. Sign in to the District Office.

  2. On the Start Page, under District, click Setup. The District Setup page appears.

  3. Under Virginia State Reporting, click SOL Testing. The SOL Testing Setup page appears.

  4. Click Substitute Tests.

  5. Click New to add a substitute test. The Add New Substitute Test page appears.

    Description

    Name

    Enter the name of the substitute test. Example: MOS Access Examination: Microsoft Office 2007/Certiport (9081).

    Description

    Enter the description for the test.

    Test Type Code

    Enter the code of the type of test this substitute test replaces.

    Substitute for

    Test Category

    Select the test category for the test that you are substituting. The option selected here determines the selection of tests.

    Test

    Select the test that you are substituting with another test. For example: To substitute Algebra 1 (2009) (EOC120) with MOS Access Examination: Microsoft Office 2007/Certiport (9081), enter Algebra 1 (2009) (EOC120).

  6. Click Submit.

Editing SOL, VAAP, VSEP, 3E Vendor Tests RECENT UPDATE

Use this procedure to edit SOL, VAAP, VSEP tests and related data.

Navigation: District Management, Compliance, SOL and Vendor Testing

  1. Click the test that you wish to edit.
    For example, to edit a SOL Test, click the link for SOL Tests.

  2. Click the pencil icon on the row of the exam to be edited. The Edit Credential Exam page appears.

  3. Edit the information as needed. For Field descriptions, see How to Create New SOL, VAAP, VSEP, 3E Vendor Tests above.

Deleting SOL, VAAP, VSEP, 3E Vendor Tests RECENT UPDATE

Use this procedure to delete a SOL, VAAP, VSEP that may have been created in error or that is no longer in use.

Note: Only tests that have not been attached to a course or section (thus assigned to a student) may be removed. Remove the test from the course or section first, then delete the test.

Navigation: District Management, Compliance, SOL and Vendor Testing

  1. Click the test that you want to delete.
    For example, to delete a 3E Vendor test, click the link for 3E Vendor tests.

  2. Click the test code of the test to be deleted .

  3. Click Delete at the bottom of the page.

  4. Click Confirm Delete if you wish to proceed with the delete or click Cancel to keep the test.
