Introduction

The CTE Student Industry Credential Template serves to record industry certifications earned by students during the reporting year as a direct result of the student’s enrollment within a PDE-approved reimbursable secondary CTE program or registered adult affidavit program reported within the CTE Student Fact Template. Written in the Reporting Engine (RE) Platform.

One record per LEA / School Year/Student ID/Student Location Code/CIP Code/Delivery Method Code/Industry Credential code/Credential Earned Date/Credential Earned Period Level.

Submit this template only if CTE (secondary and/or adult affidavit) program enrollees earned reportable industry certifications.

Selection Criteria

Selection criteria determine which database records are used in the report.

Student Selection

The report selects which student records to use based on the following criteria:

  • The student must not be excluded from state reporting.
  • The student must be assigned a CTE Delivery Method code.
  • The student must have a school enrollment during the reporting period.

Use

If run at the district level, choose one of the following from the pop-up menu:

  • Default – District Wide. Includes all records on the PowerSchool server that meet selection criteria.
  • Current School Only – Includes all records associated with the current school that meet the selection criteria.
  • District Wide – Includes all records on the PowerSchool server that meet the selection criteria.

If run at the school level, the report includes all records associated with the current school that meet the selection criteria. To change the current school, click School at the top of the page and choose the appropriate school from the list.

Students to Include

Indicate which students to include in the report by selecting one of the following options:

  • The selected [number] students only – Run the report for students in the current selection.
  • All students – Run the report for all students in the current school or district that meet the selection criteria.

Note: If running the report for a single student, or group of students, select the students prior to running report.

Processing Options

Choose a time to run the report from the pop-up menu:

  • In Background Now (Recommended) – Execute the report immediately in the background.
  • ASAP – Execute the report in the order it is received in the Report Queue.
  • At Night – Execute the report during the next evening.
  • On Weekend – Execute the report during the next weekend.
  • On Specific Time – Execute the report on the date and time specified.

Specific Date/Time

Enter a date using the format mm/dd/yyyy or mm-dd-yyyy in order to run the report on a specific day. The incorrect format displays an alert and the date field is submitted as a blank entry.

Use the pop-up menus to schedule the report to be run at a specific hour and minute.

Example: 7/29/2008 @ 10 AM: 05.

Report Term Start Date

Enter the start date for the reporting period.

Report Term End Date

Enter the end date for the reporting period.

Field Delimiter

Select the field delimiter for the extract file.

Show Column Field Headings

Choose Yes or No to indicate whether to include column headings in the extract file. Including column headers provides a heading for each type of data extracted in the report.

Run From Extract Viewer

Choose one of the following from the pop-up menu:

  • No (default) – The records that currently exist in the Extract Viewer are replaced.
  • Yes – Create an extract file from the records in the Extract Viewer.

Note: Use the extract viewer to view and edit records before submitting the file to the state.

Report Output

Each of the fields displayed in the output of the report are described below. See Understanding the Report Output Table for a definition of each column in the table.

District Code

The unique 9-digit Administrative Unit Number assigned by the PDE. This field is extracted from Start Page > District Setup > District Information.

School Year Date

This field is calculated based on the last day of the school year for the term selected at the top of the page when running the report.

Student ID

The PAsecureID assigned to the student. This field is extracted from Start Page > Student > State/Province - PA > PA SecureID.

Student Location Code

The 4-digit code identifying the school assigned by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This field is extracted from Start Page > District Setup > Schools/School Info > Edit School.

CIP Code

The CIP code identifying the CTE program. This field is extracted from Start Page > Student > State/Province - PA > CTE.

Delivery Method Code

The delivery method of the CTE program.

Valid values:

  • 70 – Program of Study
  • 80 – Adult Affidavit Program

This field is extracted from Start Page > Student > State/Province - PA > CTE.

Note: This field is required for the student to be included in this report.

Industry Credential Code

The industry credential earned by the student. Students may earn multiple industry credentials on multiple dates. One record is reported for each industry credential earned by the student.

Credentials are grouped by date. You may assign one or more credentials to a student on a single date via Start Page > Student > State/Province – PA > CTE. This record is stored in the Students table

To create additional credential records (for different dates), click the link on the CTE tab to “Click to add additional industry credentials on a different earned date.” These records are stored in the S_PA_STU_IndustryCredentials_C table.

Credential Earn Date

The date the industry credential was earned. If this field is blank, the School Year Date is extracted, e.g., Valid Value for 2019-2020 YYYY-MM-DD - 2020-06-30
