OnSIS Verification Summary - Section J

Section J - Education for Students Receiving Special Education Programs and Services Summary - Elementary and Secondary

The Section J (Education for Students Receiving Special Education Programs and Services Summary) report collects the aggregate data of all students who have an Active status as of the last day of the submission period in the current year. The data is collected by IEP, exceptionality, non-exceptionality, and placement.

Selection Criteria

Selection criteria determine which database records are used in the report. Refer to selection criteria for analysis when the report does not return the correct records.

School Selection

Schools that have the Exclude From State Reporting ([Schools]State_ExcludeFromReporting) checkbox selected are not included.

Student Selection

  • For the selected academic year, School BSID, Submission type, select all students from the school enrolment permanent table who have records in S_ON_STU_XML_SPED_C.

  • Select students from the school enrolment permanent table whose Board Residence Status Type is not 08 (S_ON_STU_XML_SCHOOL_ENROL_C.Stu_Brd_Res_Stat_Type <> 08). Shared students are excluded from the report. 

  • The report includes only Active Students: Students must not have an Enrolment End Date prior to or on the Count Date for the submission period. The student is active when:

    • Enrolment End Date is null.

    • For June submission, the Enrolment End Date must be July 1st. To add flexibility, a student is considered active if the Enrolment End Date is greater than the Count Date, and

  • Students that have records in the S_ON_STU_XML_SECOND_LANG_C table where the S_ON_STU_XML_SECOND_LANG_C Type is one of the following:

    • 020 Cree

    • 021 Ojibwe

    • 022 Delaware

    • 023 Mohawk

    • 024 Cayuga

    • 025 Oneida 

    • 026 Oji-Cree

  • Other values are ignored

The name and Board School identification (BSID) number of the school board.

School Number and Name

The school's name and Board School identification (BSID) number.

[Schools]Alternate_School_Number. If undefined, [Schools]School_Number

[Schools]Name where [Schools]school_number 
OR [Schools]alternate_school_number is equal to the alternative school number selected on the report run page

Academic Year

The academic year for which the report is run; the report is associated with the OnSIS Reporting Dates entered in District Setup. Format ‘YYYY-YYYY’. For example, 2012-2013.

Submission Period Type

The submission period type selected on the report run page. Submission Period + School Type + 'School'.

Defined at report run time.

Categories of Exceptionalities for identified students

The exceptionalities are displayed even if 0 students are enrolled for the exceptionality.

The exceptionalities are displayed in the following order:

Autism
Deaf/Hard of Hearing
Learning Disability
Speech Impairment
Lang Impairment
Giftedness
Mild Intel Disability
Dev Disability
Physical Disability
Blind/Low Vision
Mult Except

IEP

The total number of students with IEP exceptionality.

Col 1: Non-identifed row: This is the total number of students with

  • S_ON_STU_XML_SPED_C .Individual_Edu_Plan_Flag ON and

  • S_ON_STU_XML_SPED_C.Non_Identified_Student_Flag ON

Col1: all other exceptionality rows. This is the total number of student with the exceptionalilty, and [S_ON_STU_XML_SPED_C ]Main_Exceptionality_Flag =T and have the [S_ON_STU_XML_SPED_C ]Individual_Edu_Plan_Flag set ON

Fully self-contained

The total number of students with fully self-contained exceptionality.

Total number of students where [S_ON_STU_XML_SPED_C ]Special_Edu_Plmnt_Type =F for the exceptionality and the [S_ON_STU_XML_SPED_C ]Main_Exceptionality_Flag =T

Partially integrated

The total number of students with partially integrated exceptionality.

Total number of students where [S_ON_STU_XML_SPED_C ]Special_Edu_Plmnt_Type = P for the exceptionality and the [S_ON_STU_XML_SPED_C ]Main_Exceptionality_Flag =T

Withdrawal assistance

The total number of students with withdrawal assistance exceptionality.

Total number of students where [S_ON_STU_XML_SPED_C ]Special_Edu_Plmnt_Type = W for the exceptionality and the [S_ON_STU_XML_SPED_C ]Main_Exceptionality_Flag =T

Resource assistance

The total number of students with resource assistance exceptionality.

Total number of students where [S_ON_STU_XML_SPED_C ]Special_Edu_Plmnt_Type = R for the exceptionality and the [S_ON_STU_XML_SPED_C]Main_Exceptionality_Flag =T

Indirect Service

The total number of students with indirect service exceptionality.

Total number of students where [S_ON_STU_XML_SPED_C ]Special_Edu_Plmnt_Type = I for the exceptionality and the [S_ON_STU_XML_SPED_C ]Main_Exceptionality_Flag =T

TOTAL: Sum of cols 2 to 6

The total number of students for the exceptionalities from columns 2 through 6.
