Configuring DEX for SIMS is fully automated and requires user intervention for these steps:

Under the Plugin Management Configuration screen, enable the PowerSchool Data Exchange (DEX) plugin.

Under the General Setup of DEX, add the Authentication Key and Secret from the Massachusetts Department of Education, turn the system on, and test the connection.
After step 1, a new ‘MA SIF Unity Pilot’ profile is added to the PowerSchool Data Exchange (DEX).
The detailed instructions for step 2 are as follows:

Go to System Administrator, Data Exchange, and click General Setup.

Under the General Options, select the On option for the System Enabled field.

Under the Communication Settings, the fields are as follows:

Data Exchange URL:

Authentication URL:

Note: XX stands for the two-digit Zone number assigned to your district.

The 2026-2027 school year is checked.

In Service Options, Data Changes (checked), Publish (checked).

Under the Action column corresponding to the LEA name, click Configure. A pop-up window appears.

Enter the Authentication Key and Authentication Secret from the Massachusetts State Department of Education.

Click Test Connection to test the connection to the Wave. The “Test Successful” message appears in the pop-up window if the connection is successful.

Click Save on the dialog box.

Click Save again on the main page.
Important: You must save two times for the configuration to be set up correctly.
