The following setup is required to use IOWA SIF Unity.
Pre-Conditions

PS SIS version: SIS_26.3.x or later
-
PS State Reporting version: SR_26.7.3.0 or later
Step 1: Enable Data Exchange (DEX)

Go to Start, System Management , Server, Plugin Configuration.

Type DEX in the Filter to find PowerSchool Data Exchange (DEX).
-
Check the box for PowerSchool Data Exchange (DEX) and click Enable.
-
Confirm the green Plugin successfully enabled message appears.
Note: This is a one-time setup.
Step 2: Create an IA_SIF_Unity Profile

On the same Plugin page, type DEX in the Filter.
-
Click PowerSchool Data Exchange (DEX), scroll to the bottom, and click Profile Configuration.
-
Click Add Profile.
-
Enter IA_SIF_Unity as the Profile Name.
-
Select SIF_IA_4 as the Profile Type.
-
Verify the profile is On (Enabled) and click Save.
Step 3: Configure the SIF Profile & Test Connection

Go to System Management, Data Exchange, General Setup.
-
Confirm System Enabled is set to On.
-
Select the newly created profile from the Profile dropdown.
-
Enter the Iowa-provided SIF Unity endpoint in the Data Exchange URL and Authentication URL fields.
-
Enable the appropriate school year (e.g., 2026-2027).
-
Enable the Data Changes and Publish checkboxes to send data changes automatically.
-
Click Save.
Configure the LEA:
-
Go to System Management, Data Exchange, General Setup.
-
Click Configure next to the LEA you want to publish data for.
-
In the configuration window:
-
Set LEA Enabled to On.
-
Enter the Environment value from the Iowa agency.
-
Enter the Session Token in the Authentication Key field.
-
Enter the Shared Secret in the Authentication Secret field.
-

Click Test Connection to verify the connection. Save your changes.
-
Click Save on the main page.
Subdistrict Configuration (if applicable):
-
Enable and configure subdistricts at the District Office level.
-
Each subdistrict will appear at the bottom of the configuration page.
-
Repeat the configuration steps for each subdistrict.
-
Confirm all LEAs show an Active status.
-
Save your changes.
Other Setup Options
Confirming the Publishing Year
-
Go to System Management, Data Exchange, General Setup.
-
Uncheck the previous publishing year.
-
Select the new publishing year.
-
Save your changes.
Enabling or Disabling a School
-
Go to System Management, Data Exchange, Organizations.
-
Make the desired selection.
-
Save your changes.
Note: Ensure the correct profile is selected before making changes.
Enabling or Disabling a Data Resource

Go to System Management, Data Exchange, Resource Configuration.
-
Make the desired selection.
-
Save your changes.
Note: Ensure the correct profile is selected before making changes.
Step 4: Publishing Data

Go to Data and Reporting, Data Exchange from the main PowerSchool menu.
-
The SIF Unity Dashboard opens.
-
For the first run, click Run Now next to LEA Info.
-
The sync takes about 2–3 minutes.
-
When successful, LEA Info appears under the Published column.
-

Click Run All for each section to publish all enabled resources.
-
This can be done once at the district level to publish data for the entire district.
After Publishing:
-
Review the Dashboard for errors.
-
Verify the expected number of records were published.
-
The dashboard displays the most recent publication date and time for each resource.
