This page explains how the SIF Unity dashboard is organized and how to use the publishing order effectively.
The Iowa SIF Unity dashboard is organized into two areas: Main Publishing for core setup and regular publishing, and On Demand for data that is typically published when needed.
Dashboard organization
The dashboard is arranged by functional area. Within each area, related SIF Unity objects are grouped together to make navigation easier and help users publish foundational data before dependent data.

Main Publishing section
Use the Main Publishing section for the core objects that define your district, schools, calendars, courses, people, enrollments, and related records. In most cases, this is the primary area used during setup and ongoing publishing.
1. Organization
Publish organization-level records first. These objects establish the district and school structure that other records reference.
-
LEAInfo
-
SchoolInfo
2. Organization Setup
Next, publish the setup objects that support attendance and grading configuration.
-
AttendanceCodeInfo
-
MarkInfo
-
MarkValueInfo
3. Calendars
Publish calendar data after organization setup so terms and calendar definitions are available to scheduling and attendance-related objects.
-
TermInfo
-
CalendarSummary
-
CalendarDate
4. Schedules
Publish course and section structures after calendar data is in place. These records define the instructional schedule used by enrollment and grading objects.
-
SchoolCourseInfo
-
SectionInfo
-
SectionMarkInfo
Section-related data depends on earlier organizational and calendar data being available. Publishing in dashboard order helps avoid reference issues between objects.
5. StudentPersonal
Publish student identity and core student records before publishing enrollment, attendance, grades, or contact relationships.
-
StudentPersonal
6. StudentSchoolEnrollment
Publish school enrollment records after student records so each student can be tied to the appropriate school and enrollment context.
-
StudentSchoolEnrollment
7. StaffPersonal
Publish staff identity records before staff assignments so assignment records can reference existing staff records.
-
StaffPersonal
8. StaffAssignment
Publish staff assignment data after staff and school structures are available.
-
StaffAssignment
9. Section Enrollments
Publish section enrollment data after students, schools, and sections are published.
-
StudentSectionEnrollment
10. Grades
Publish grade-related records after sections, marks, and enrollments are established.
-
StudentSectionMarks
11. Discipline
Publish discipline records after the core student and school data is available.
-
DisciplineIncident
12. Programs
Publish program participation and placement records for students after student and school context has been published.
-
StudentParticipation
-
StudentPlacement
13. Contacts
Publish contact records after student data is available. In SIF Unity, contact information is separated into personal details and relationship details.
-
StudentContactPersonal
-
StudentContactRelationship
A practical approach is to publish StudentContactPersonal first, then publish StudentContactRelationship so the relationship records can reference the contact records correctly.
On Demand section
The On Demand section contains records that are commonly published when needed rather than as part of the core initial sequence.
Attendance
Use this area for attendance-related publishing. These objects typically rely on previously published student, enrollment, calendar, and schedule data.
-
StudentAttendanceSummary
-
StudentPeriodAttendance
-
StudentDailyAttendance
Transcripts
Use this area for transcript and academic history publishing.
-
StudentDemographicRecord
-
StudentAcademicRecord
Recommended publishing order
Follow the dashboard order when publishing data, especially during initial setup or after large data changes.
-
Publish Organization objects.
-
Publish Organization Setup objects.
-
Publish Calendars.
-
Publish Schedules.
-
Publish StudentPersonal.
-
Publish StudentSchoolEnrollment.
-
Publish StaffPersonal.
-
Publish StaffAssignment.
-
Publish StudentSectionEnrollment.
-
Publish StudentSectionMarks.
-

-

-

-
Use On Demand publishing for Attendance and Transcript objects as needed.
Publishing in this order helps ensure that foundational records exist before dependent records are sent, which improves reliability and reduces publishing errors.
Note: If you are preparing to publish section grades, start by confirming that LEA and school data, setup records, calendar records, schedule records, student records, school enrollments, and section enrollments have already been published. Then publish StudentSectionMarks. This sequence reduces the chance that grade records reference missing students, sections, or marking structures.
