Import Smarter Balance Assessment Consortium (SBAC) Test Scores

As a state reporting admin in California, you can upload the file from TOMS (Test Operations Management System) for importing students' SBAC test scores. The SBAC File import incorporates all 292 columns of the result file as published by the state. Required fields are listed on the updated SBAC import page. The order of fields in the file to be imported should match the format in the Import Student SBAC test scores page. Once you go to the SBAC Import page, you can import records into PowerSchool in .txt format.

Before importing SBAC test scores:

  • Make sure you are in California State Reporting section.

  • Obtain the downloaded information from TOMS.


Importing SBAC Test Scores

To import SBAC test scores:

  1. Go to PowerSchool homepage.

  2. Click Special Functions on the left navigation bar.

  3. Select Import SBAC Test Scores under California Special Functions.

  4. Edit the TOMS text file that you have already downloaded and add all the required fields. (Note: The required/mandatory fields are listed on the updated SBAC import page).Enter the Record Type.

From the Start Page > Students > copy the SSID (State-wide student Identifier) of the student for whom you want to import the SBAC test scores and paste it under SSID number in the file.

Enter the CALPADS Grade.

Enter the Smarter Claim 1 Performance Level.

Enter the Smarter Claim 2 Performance Level.

Enter the Smarter Claim 3 Performance Level.

Enter the Smarter Claim 4 Performance Level.

Enter the Scale score.

Enter the Achievement Levels.

  1. Make sure you have entered all the correct scores for the selected student, and then Save the .txt file.

  2. In the Import Student SBAC test scores page:

    • Select the assessment Term.

    • Select the Test Date.

    • Select Choose file to import the .txt file that you have edited, and then click Import. The SBAC entries are successfully added.

Viewing the added SBAC Records

To view SBAC test scores:

  1. Go to Start Page > Student Selection > Test Results.

  2. Click the SBAC record to view the added records.

    If you wish to update the added records, you need to update them manually.
