K-3 Class Size

Introduction

This report returns a headcount by school of students in grades K-3 and an FTE summary of homeroom teachers teaching students in grades K-3. Note: The expected count dates are the fourth instructional day of September, and the first instructional day for the remaining months of the standard school year (October through June).

Selection Criteria

Selection criteria determine which database records are used in the report. Refer to selection criteria for analysis of report results when the report does not return the correct records. The report selects school records from the [Schools], [Courses], and [Students] table based on the following criteria:

The school must be included in the report.
The school must not be excluded from state reporting.
The class needs to be designated as a homeroom.
The teacher needs to be designated staff on the count day.
The staff type code needs to be 31x or 33x depending on when the report is run.

Student Selection

The student must not be excluded from state reporting.
The student grade level must be 0 – 3.
The student must be enrolled in the class on the count date.

Field	Description
Use	Choose one of the following from the pop-up menu: Current School Only – Includes all student records associated with the current school that meet the selection criteria. To change the current school, click the School link at the top of the page and choose the appropriate school from the list. District Wide (default) – Includes all student records on the PowerSchool server that meet the selection criteria. Note: The District Wide option is only available when running the report from the District Office.
Current Selection Students	Choose to run the report for: Selected Students – select individual students, students by class/course, or by grade level All Students – select all students enrolled in the school for the report
Current Selection Staff	Choose to run the report for: Selected Staff – select individual or group of teachers. All Staff– select all staff for the report
Report Count Date	The expected count dates are the fourth instructional day of September, and the first instructional day for the remaining months of the standard school year (October through June).
Staff Type Codes to Include	Choose one of the following: Duty Code 31x Only (default) Duty Code 31x and 33x

Report Output

Each of the fields displayed in the output of the report are described below. See Understanding the Report Output Table for a definition of each column in the table.

Count	The number of enrolled students in the class.	Calculated based on enrolled number of students in each grade level.
Teacher FTE	Teacher Full Time Equivalency	Calculated based on the number of students enrolled in a grade level and the number of teachers at that grade level. Note: The reported number is rounded to the nearest second decimal.
