NJ Fall Survey

Introduction

This report is obsolete and no longer collected by the state.

Use the NJ Fall Survey option to generate the student counts for all components of the NJ Fall Survey report. This report has five pages:

  • Page 1 is the count of regular students enrolled on the count date.
  • Page 2 is the count of special education student enrolled on the count date that attends a general classroom setting 40% or more of the school day.
  • Page 3 is the count of special education students enrolled on the count date that attends a general classroom setting 39% or less of the school day.
  • Page 4 is the count of special education students enrolled in a special program that attends a general classroom setting 39% or less of the school day.
  • Page 5 is the lunch survey and includes a count of all currently enrolled students.

Required Data Setup

  1. You must define the following Ethnicity Codes in District Setup and assign them to students:
    • W = White/Non-Hispanic
    • B = Black/Non-Hispanic
    • H = Hispanic
    • I = American Indian/Alaskan Native
    • A = Asian
    • P = Hawaiian Native/Other Pacific Islander
    • M = Multiracial
  2. You must define the following special programs in District Setup and map them to the appropriate New Jersey Register (these are suggested names; they do not need to be exact). You must select the Qualifies as a Special Education and Qualifies as a New Jersey Register program check box for each program.
    • (06) Cognitive - mild
    • (07) Cognitive - moderate
    • (08) Learning/language disabilities
    • (10) Behavioral disabilities
    • (11) Multiple disabilities
    • (13) Auditory impairments
    • (16) Visual impairments
    • (18) Full-day preschool disabilities
    • (19) Half-day preschool disabilities
    • (27) Autism
    • (29) Cognitive - severe
  3. You must enroll the appropriate students in these special education programs.
  4. You must define the following fields for each student on the Fall Survey page:
    • Special Education Tier
    • Gender
    • Ethnicity
    • Lunch Status
    • LEP
    • Migrant
    • IEP Level

Selection Criteria

Selection criteria determine which database records are used in the report. For the NJ Fall Survey, special education student program enrollment records are selected.

School Selection

The report selects which school records to use based on the following criteria:

  • The school must be associated with a student included in the report.

Student Selection

The report selects the student records to include based on the following criteria:

  • On Page 1 – Regular Education, the student's Special Education Tier is blank on the NJ Fall Survey page.
  • On Page 2 – IEP 40% or Greater, the student's Special Education Tier is set to II, III, or IV and the IEP level is set to 40% or more in general education classes.
  • On Page 3 – IEP 39% or Less, the student's Special Education Tier is set to II, III, or IV and the IEP level is set to 39% or less in general education classes.
  • On Page 4 – by Special Program, the student's Special Education Tier is set to II, III, or IV, the IEP level is set to 39% or less in general education classes, and the student is enrolled in a special program.

Description

Use

Choose one of the following from the pop-up menu:

  • Current School Only – Includes all student records associated with the current school that meet the selection criteria. To change the current school, click School at the top of the page and choose the appropriate school from the list.
  • District Wide (default) – Includes all student records on the PowerSchool server that meet the selection criteria.

Processing Options

Choose a time to run the report from the pop-up menu:

  • In Background Now (Recommended) – Execute the report immediately in the background.
  • ASAP – Execute the report in the order it is received in the Report Queue.
  • At Night – Execute the report during the next evening.
  • On Weekend – Execute the report during the next weekend.
  • On Specific Time – Execute the report on the date and time specified.

Specific Date/Time

Enter a date using the format mm/dd/yyyy or mm-dd-yyyy in order to run the report on a specific day. The incorrect format displays an alert and the date field is submitted as a blank entry.

Use the pop-up menus to schedule the report to be run at a specific hour and minute.

Example: 7/29/2008 @ 10:05 AM.

Count Date

Enter the Count Date for the report. The report will include students that were enrolled on this date.

Report Type

Select the type of report you want to run. The choices are:

  • Full-Time Student Survey
  • Shared-Time Student Survey
  • Full-Time Lunch Survey
  • Shared-Time Lunch Survey

This column lists the number of students is each grade level that are eligible for Free Meals and/or Milk. A student’s lunch status equals F (Free) or FDC (Free-DC) to be included in this count.

The student’s lunch status is extracted from the Lunch page, Start Page > Student Selection > Lunch.

This column lists the number of students is each grade level that are eligible for Reduced Price Meals. A student’s lunch status equals R (Reduced) to be included in this count.

This column lists the number of students in each grade level identified as a Limited English Proficient (LEP) student.
