New Jersey School Report Card – Dropout – Legacy

Introduction

Use this option to extract the Dropout data your district is required to enter into the New Jersey School Report Card Electronic Data Collection software application. Use the Dropout extract to report the following statistics:

  • The number of regular students that dropped out of your district during the reporting period. This section breaks the student gender/race counts down by grade level within the following categories:
    • IEP Level / Shared Time
    • IEP Level / Full Time
    • Students with No IEPs / Shared Time
    • Students with No IEPs / Full Time
  • The number of special education students that dropped out of your district during the reporting period. This section breaks the student gender/race counts down by program code within the following categories:
    • IEP Level / Shared Time
    • IEP Level / Full Time
  • The number of students in the following categories that dropped out of your school district during the report period: Migrant, LEP, and Disadvantaged status. The student counts breakdown is by grade level in two sections: Shared Time and Full Time.

Report Setup

Prior to creating the Dropout extract, you must complete the following tasks:

  • Identify any students that are excluded from the state reporting process. You update the Exclude from State Reporting option on the General Demographics page, Start Page > Student Selection > Demographics.

Selection Criteria

Selection criteria determine which database records are used in the report. For the New Jersey School Report Card extract, student records are selected.

School Selection

The report selects which school records to use based on the following criteria:

  • The school must be associated with a student included in the report.

Student Selection

For the Dropout extract, the report selects the student records based on the following criteria:

  • The student withdrew from the school between the report start and end dates selected for the report.
  • The student's exit code equals an exit code entered in the Dropout Codes field on the report interface.
  • The student record is included in state reporting.

Use

If run at the district level, choose one of the following from the pop-up menu:

  • Default – District Wide. Includes all records on the PowerSchool server that meet selection criteria.
  • Current School Only – Includes all records associated with the current school that meet the selection criteria.
  • District Wide – Includes all records on the PowerSchool server that meet the selection criteria.

If run at the school level, the report includes all records associated with the current school that meet the selection criteria. To change the current school, click School at the top of the page and choose the appropriate school from the list.

Students to Include

Indicate which students to include in the report by selecting one of the following options:

  • The selected [number] students only – Run the report for students in the current selection.
  • All students – Run the report for all students in the current school or district that meet the selection criteria.

Note: If running the report for a single student, or group of students, select the students prior to running report.

Report Start Date

Type the beginning date for the reporting period. This date is used to select the student enrollment/withdrawal records for the extract.

Report End Date

Type the ending date for the reporting period. This date is used to select the student enrollment/withdrawal records for the extract.

Detail Report

Click No to generate a summary extract, which you can use as a worksheet to enter the student counts in the New Jersey School Report Card Electronic Data Collection software application.

Click Yes to generate a detail extract, which contains the student details used to calculate the student counts. Use this extract to verify that the summary data is correct.

Dropout Codes

If creating the Dropout extract, type the exit codes that identify a dropout student. Use a comma to separate each code (D3,D4,D5,D6.D7,D8).

Advanced Options

The Advanced Options area is used for internal developer information and is not meaningful to the end user.

Economic Disadvantaged

This column contains the number students per grade level that meet the economically disadvantaged criteria. A student is considered economically disadvantaged if that student is eligible to participate in the free or reduced lunch program.

A student is included in this count if the student’s Lunch Status equals one of the following:

  • F for Free
  • R for Reduced
  • FDC for Free – DC

The Lunch Status is extracted from the Lunch page, Start Page > Student Selection > Lunch.

LEP Students

This column contains the number students per grade level that are eligible to participate in a limited English proficiency program. A student is included in this count if the LEP indicator equals Yes for that student.

The LEP value is extracted from the NJS Student tab, Start Page >Student Selection > State / Province – NJ > NJS Student.

Migrant Students

This column contains the number students per grade level that meet the criteria for a migrant student. A student is included in this count if the Migrant indicator equals Yes for that student.

The Migrant value is extracted from the NJS Student tab, Start Page >Student Selection > State / Province – NJ > NJS Student.
