Report Description

The February Grade Follow-Up file includes information about students who graduated the previous year, are IEP dropouts and CTE Concentrators who are GED dropouts. This file collects one record for each student who graduated from the district the previous year.

This report can be run at the District or School level. The report will only run for the district when in District Office.

Selection Criteria

Selection criteria determine which database records are used in the report. Refer to the selection criteria for analysis when the report does not return the correct records.

Student Enrollment Selection

The report selects records from the [Students]and [ReEnrollments]tables based on the following criteria:

  • The student must not be marked as “Exclude from State Reporting”.
  • The student must not be marked “Exclude from Graduate Follow-up”.
  • The student’s school entry and exit dates must fall between July 1 and June 30 of the prior school year AND there must be a Years & Terms set up at the District Office for the prior school year.
  • The student’s school entry and exit date cannot be the same date (excludes no-shows from the report).
  • The student’s:
  1. Exit Code is G01 or G02 OR
  2. Exit Code is D05 and HS Career Ed Code is 'CHS', 'CNP', 'CTP', or 'CNT' OR
  3. Exit Code begins with D and the student’s IEP/Disability is not 00 and the student’s SPED Exit Date is in a prior school year from the student’s exit date in grades 9-12
  4. Students must not have a Residency Status of Resident 2 (R2)

Perkins Concentrator

The student’s Perkins Concentrator’s Status.

A Postsecondary Perkins Concentrator is a student who earns 75% of the total number of credit hours required to complete a degree in an approved career education subject area.

An Adult Perkins Concentrator is a student in an Adult program that has completed a minimum of five hundred (500) clock hours.

The student’s IEP Classification. A student is considered disabled if they have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities.

Disadvantaged

Enter whether or not the student is disadvantaged.

Disadvantaged students are defined as families or individuals who are determined to be low-income according to the latest available data from the Department of Commerce. Other indicators include Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF); Food Stamps; Title I, Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA); free or reduced lunch, National School Lunch Act; Pell Grant; or Workforce Investment Act (WIA) eligibility.

Nontraditional Student

Indicates if the student is a non-traditional student.

A non-traditional student is defined as entering a career education training program or occupation nontraditional to their gender. An enrollment of 75% of one gender is considered traditional.

Displaced Homemaker

Indicates if the student is a displaced homemaker.

The student is considered a displaced homemaker if they are unemployed or underemployed and experiencing difficulty in obtaining or upgrading employment, and one of the following conditions is met:

  • The student works primarily without remuneration to care for a home and family and for that reason has diminished marketable skills.
  • The student has been dependent on the income of another family member but is no longer supported by that income.
  • The student is a parent whose youngest dependent child will become ineligible to receive assistance under social security.

Other Barriers

Indicates if the student has other barriers. Students qualify for this classification if they were under previous career education legislation and were considered educationally disadvantaged. Educationally disadvantaged means an individual who scores at or below the 25th percentile on a standardized achievement or aptitude test, whose secondary grades are below 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (where the grade “A” equals 4.0), or who fails to attain minimum academic competencies. This definition does not include individuals with learning disabilities.
