Verify Incident Management Setup
To create state reportable incidents, security groups must be granted access to the Incident Types that contain a caret (^) in the description. Refer to System Help in PowerSchool for more information on how to set up group-level permissions.
Action Association:
Using the Set the Quick Incident Action Association setting, define whether users can associate an action with a participant or a behavior when creating quick incidents. The system defaults to Participant, but it is recommended to use Behavior. Only one action association may be defined at a given time.
Set the Action Association
On the start page, choose District Management.
Choose Behavior.
Choose Incident Action Association.
Choose Behavior from the Set the Quick Incident Action Association popup menu. The default is set to Participant.
Click Submit.
Incident Types:
Use this page to manually create or edit the Michigan Incident Management Type.
An Incident will be collected in state reporting when the Incident was created using any Incident Type that a) contains a caret (^) in the description AND b) the Incident has a Behavior Code that has a 'State Aggregate Report Code' or a 'State Detail Report Code' that begins with (MSDS) or (MSDS/CRDC). An Incident will be collected for the CRDC federal reporting if the Incident was created using a) any Incident Type that contains a caret (^) in the description AND b) the Incident has a code that begins with (MSDS/CRDC) or (CRDC).

Codes and Subcodes:
Incident types, codes, and subcodes are set up at the district level. Use the following to load, verify, and edit incident management types, codes, and subcodes. The codes and subcodes used specificially for state reporting of discipline can be found on the Incident Management Codes and Subcodes help document.
An Incident will report as a state reporting discipline when the incident has a) an Incident Type with a description containing a caret (^) AND b) the Behavior Code has a State Report Code, and c) the ‘(MSDS) Exclude from State Reporting^’ Attribute is not selected. All Behavior Codes that begin with (MSDS) or (MSDS/CRDC) have State Report Codes.
Code types are used as an organizational tool to categorize incidents. PowerSchool includes 11 system-defined, non-editable code types that provide the basis from which all user-defined incident codes, subcodes, and secondary subcodes are created.
