This category provides information about Michigan districts and schools as published within the Education Organization category. The Education Organization category includes the following data views and resources:

Local Education Agencies

This view captures a list of all Michigan districts defined on the PowerSchool server. The layout includes the School Name, State LEA Number, LEA Name, Last Publish Date, and Publishing ID.

This resource represents an administrative unit at the local level, which exists primarily to operate schools or to contract for educational services. It includes school districts, charter schools, charter management organizations, or other local administrative organizations.

Location (Rooms)

This view captures the physical space where students gather for a particular class/section. The layout includes the School Name, and Room Number.

This resource represents the physical space where students gather for a particular class/section. The location may be an indoor or outdoor area designated for the purpose of meeting the educational needs of students.

Selection Criteria

Records are published if the following criteria are met:

  • The school must not be excluded from state reporting.
  • The room is assigned to at least one course section based on [Sections]Room.

Resource Output

  • A single record is published for each room or classroom at each school if the room has been assigned to at least one course section.
  • A default value of “OPEN” will be published as the ClassroomIdentificationCode for any course sections where [Sections]Room is blank.
  • The Location resource is not dependent on the prior publishing of other Ed-Fi resources.
  • LEAs and Schools may upload (publish) data to the Ed-Fi ODS in real-time or on-demand (“Run Now” button).

Class Periods

This view captures the available class period meeting times reflected in the scheduling configurations for each school as published in the ClassPeriod resource within the Education Organization category. The layout provides the School Name, Period Name, and Period Number.
