MI Third Grade Retention
Introduction
This will create the MI Third Grade Retention XML Export file.
This report can be run historically and does not need to be run before End of Year (EOY) processing. The student enrollment and grade information is generated from any enrollment record that falls between the First Day of School and the Last Day of School as entered on this page.
The Third Grade Retention Decisions are needed for students targeted for retention by MCL 380.1280f, commonly referred to as the “Read by Grade Three” law.

Selection Criteria
Selection criteria determine which database records are used in the report. Refer to the selection criteria for analysis when the report does not return the correct records.
Student Selection
Student records are selected based on the following criteria:
- The student was enrolled during the dates specified.
- The student was in grade 03 during the dates specified.
- The student is marked to Include Third Grade Retention Data in MSDS Reporting on the State/Province - MI page - Third Grade Retention Decision.
- The student must not be excluded from MSDS Reporting on the State/Province - MI page.
- The School is not excluded from state reporting.

Current Selection Students | Select whether to run the export file for the selected number of students or for all students. |
Entity Type Code | Select the entity type code. |
Entity Code | Enter the entity code. |
Reporting District's State Assigned 5-digit District Number | Enter the reporting district's state-assigned, five-digit district number. |
First Day of School | Enter the date of the first day of school. |
Last Day of School | Enter the date of the last day of school. |
Select schools to export. | Select which schools to export if applicable. |
