EL Posttest

Introduction

Use the EL Posttest report to collect English Learners in grades K - 12 who were in the county during the current year testing window.


The file must be opened in Excel and saved with the .xlsx file extension (i.e. EL Posttest.xlsx) otherwise the file will fail when submitting to Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).



This report uses the State Reporting Platform (SRP) to generate results.

Selection Criteria

Selection criteria determine which database records are used in the report.

Records for the EL Posttest report are selected based on the following criteria:

  • The student must not be excluded from State Reporting.

  • The student's enrollment must fall between the report start and report end dates.

  • The student must be indicated as English Learner.

Description

Report Parameters

Set Select All; this will store your selections for this report which is helpful when you need to submit a new file and you are unsure of how you created your last file.

Select Schools*

If run at the district level, choose one of the following:

  • Select Multiple Schools – Select schools to include in the report. To select a single school, click that school. To select multiple schools, use Ctrl+Click and select each school to be included. Select schools to include in the report

  • All Schools – Run the report for the entire district.

If run at the school level, the report includes all records associated with the current school that meet the selection criteria. To change the current school, click School at the top of the page and choose the appropriate school from the list.

Current Selection Students*

Indicate which students to include in the report by selecting one of the following options:

  • The Selected [number] Students Only

  • All Students

Note: If running the report for a single student, or group of students, select the students prior to running report.

Report Start Date*

Enter the start date for the current year EL Test Window.

Report End Date*

Enter the end date for the current year EL Test Window.

Receives Title III Funding*

Indicate if Title III funding is received.

Use Alternate School Numbers*

Indicate if Alternate School Numbers should be used in the report.

Scheduling

Click Run Now to run this report immediately, or click Schedule to schedule it to run later.

Submit

Click Submit. You will be taken to the Report Queue. Once your file is complete, click Completen and you will have a PDF file to assist you in compiling your spreadsheet for the State.

Gender

The student's gender code. Extracted from the Edit Demographics page, Start Page > Student Selection> General Demographics, or if the legal gender is populated on the Maryland State Information page, Start Page>Student Selection>Maryland State Information. The alpha character is converted to a one-digit numeric code when the report is run: 1 for male and 2 for female.

Ethnicity (Hispanic/Latino)

This field contains a Y if the student’s ethnicity is Hispanic or Latino, or an N if the student’s ethnicity is not Hispanic or Latino. This field value is extracted from the Edit Demographics page, Start Page > Student Selection> General Demographics.

If the field "Ethnicity: Is the student Hispanic or Latino?" is blank, the value is extracted from the Hispanic or Latino field on the Maryland State Reporting page, Start Page > Student Selection > Maryland State Information.

Race

The five-digit number identifying each race code that applies to this student. Race is reported as a five position field, with each code assigned a value from 1 through 5. If a checkbox is not selected, a 0 is assigned to that position. For example, a student record with the Asian and African American race checkboxes selected is 02300. The race code values are extracted from the Edit Demographics page, Start Page > Student Selection > General Demographics. If the race code checkboxes are not selected on the Edit Demographics page, the values are extracted from the race code checkboxes on the Maryland State Reporting page, Start Page > Student Selection > Maryland State Information.

Title III Indicator (Status)

Indicates if the student is an English Learner who is a part of the LEA's Title III grant allocation.

Title III students are reported based on the following: If the report parameter "Receives Title III Funding" is Yes, and ELL = 1, or ELL = 1, or Immigrant is selected, then Y = Yes; otherwise, N = No.
