Kansas Course Code Export

Introduction

This extract is used to map the local course codes to state course codes. The courses that have been mapped to the district will determine the course information available for the Licensed Personnel Report (LPR) and the Career and Technical Education reporting systems (CaTE).

Selection Criteria

Selection criteria determine which database records are used in the report. Refer to selection criteria for analysis when the report does not return the correct records. The report selects all records in the particular table and field entered below.

  • The course must not be excluded from state reporting.

Use

If run at the district level, choose one of the following from the pop-up menu:

  • Default – District Wide. Includes all records on the PowerSchool server that meet selection criteria.

  • Current School Only – Includes all records associated with the current school that meet the selection criteria.

  • District-Wide – Includes all records on the PowerSchool server that meet the selection criteria.

If run at the school level, the report includes all records associated with the current school that meet the selection criteria. To change the current school, click School at the top of the page and choose the appropriate school from the list.


Output Type

Select the output type for the report:

  • TAB (excludes column headers)

  • CSV (includes column headers)

The file format of the Kansas Course Codes Export Report generates a Tab-delimited output file when the TAB (excludes column headers) option is chosen

Each of the fields displayed in the output of the report is described below. See Understanding the Report Output Table for a definition of each column in the table.

The manner in which a school may "break up" increasingly difficult or more complex course information. The sequence represents the part of the total.

The total number of classes offered in a series of classes. Valid range: 0-9.

Grade Level

Grade Level of the course.
Valid values:

  • 00 = Spec Ed Infant/toddler

  • 01 = 3 yr old prek

  • 02 = 4 yr old prek

  • 03 = 5 yr old prek

  • 04 = 4 yr old At Risk

  • 05 = Kindergarten

  • 06 = First Grade

  • 07 = Second Grade

  • 08 = Third Grade

  • 09 = Fourth Grade

  • 10 = Fifth Grade

  • 11 = Sixth Grade

  • 12 = Seventh Grade

  • 13 = Eighth Grade

  • 14 = Ninth Grade

  • 15 = Tenth Grade

  • 16 = Eleventh Grade

  • 17 = Twelfth Grade

Targeted Program

An indicator that the course is funded specifically for the benefit of the subgroup indicated (SPED< ESOL) and the majority of the students in the course are members of the subgroup.

Valid values:

  • S = Special Education

  • E = ESOL

  • G = General

  • M = Migrant

  • A = At Risk
    Default = G

The primary mode of delivery for the course.

  • V = Virtual

  • D = Distance

  • G = General

  • M = Self-contained Multi

Indicatory of whether the course is approved by the state for CTE credit or dual credit.

Valid values:

  • N = Not dual credit/Regular course

  • X = CTE credit/not funded IN an approved program/pathway (Introductory level)

  • T = CTE course NOT funded OR part of an approved Pathway (Local Program)

  • L = CTE Credit Dual credit IN an approved program/pathway/Excel in CTE only (old SB155)

  • D = Dual credit NOT funded in a college program

  • F = CTE credit/funded course IN an approved program/pathway (Technical/Application level)

  • C = CTE Dual credit funded IN an approved pathway (HS Only)/Not Excel in CTE (old SB155)

  • R = CTE Dual credit NOT part of an approved program/pathway/Excel in CTE only (old SB155)

The first day of the course. If the date is not specified, the date will default to 07/01/yyyy where yyyy = current fiscal year. The course cannot be prior to 7/1/2008.
