Statewide Standard Course Code Mapping

Introduction

This report collects information regarding the courses that are offered in the current year. The report is intended to be run district wide, but it may be run for a select school. The report extracts one record for each course that’s active for the current year, into a tab-delimited file.

Selection Criteria

Selection criteria determine which database records are used in the report. Refer to selection criteria for analysis when the report does not return the correct records.

Record Selection

The report selects records from the Schools and Courses tables based on the following criteria:

  • The school is not flagged as Exclude from State Reporting.
  • The course is not flagged as Exclude from State Reporting.
  • The course has a section for the current year.

Description

Select Schools*

If run at the district level, choose one of the following:

  • Select Multiple Schools – Select schools to include in the report. To select a single school, click that school. To select multiple schools, use Ctrl+Click and select each school to be included. Select schools to include in the report
  • All Schools – Run the report for the entire district.

If run at the school level, the report includes all records associated with the current school that meet the selection criteria. To change the current school, click School at the top of the page and choose the appropriate school from the list.

Include Header Row*

Choose one of the following:

  • Yes – Choose this option to have the report output a header row with column descriptions.
  • No – Choose this option to have the report extract data without column headings.

Report Output

Each of the fields displayed in the output of the report are described below. See Understanding the Report Output Table for a definition of each column in the table.

Credits

(Carnegie Units)

The number of length of the course in terms of Carnegie Units.

Note: If the CO_CrsCarnegie field is blank, the Credit_Hours field will be reported.

Sequence

(Optional)

The Sequence field combined with “Sequence Total” describes the manner in which school systems may “break up” increasingly difficult or more complex course information. The sequence represents the part of the total.

Note: If field value is blank, ‘1’ will be extracted.

Sequence Total

The total number of classes offered in a series of classes. Used in conjunction with “Sequence”.
