Student Programs

This category captures student associations and data related to programs and includes the following data views and resources:

StudentPrograms

This data view represents the program(s) that a student participates in or is served by. The published view layout provides the School Name, Student Number, Student Name, STN Number, Grade Level, Program Type, Program Name, Entry Date, Last Publish Date, Publishing ID, and Resource ID.

The following Program Types are currently published for Vermont Ed-Fi:

  • Curricular Materials Reimbursement (Textbook)

  • Multilingual Learners (Language Minority)

  • School Food Services (Free / Reduced Price meals)

  • Special Education

Selection Criteria

Records are published if the following criteria are met:

  • The student must not be excluded from state reporting.

  • The student’s school of enrollment must not be excluded from state reporting.

  • The studentUniqueID (Vermont Student Number) must be populated in PowerSchool ([Students]State_StudentNumber).

  • LEAs and Schools may upload (publish) data to the Ed-Fi ODS in real-time or on-demand (“Run Now” button).

Selection Criteria

Records are published if the following criteria are met:

  • The studentUniqueId (MARSS Number) must be populated in PowerSchool.

  • The student must not be excluded from state reporting.

  • The student's school of enrollment must not be excluded from state reporting.

  • The student must have at least one school enrollment with an Entry Date that falls within the date range defined by [Terms]FirstDay and [Terms]LastDay for the year of the Term selected in the PowerSchool UI.

  • The enrollment exit date is greater than the entry date.

  • The Economic Indicator has a value of 1 or 2.

High Ability Program

This data view represents the High Ability program that a student participates in or is served by. The published view layout provides the Student Number, School ID, Program Type, Program Name, Entry Date, and End Date.

If a student is enrolled in multiple schools within the date range of his or her High Ability program record, a separate Student Programs record is published for each school, with start and end dates reflecting each school’s enrollment.

If the student's High Ability dates include enrollments at multiple schools, separate records are published for each school using enrollment entry and exit dates.

This data view represents the virtual education programs that a student participates in or is served by. The published view layout provides the Student Number, Program Type, Program Name, Entry Date, and End Date.

If a student is enrolled in multiple schools within the date range of his or her Foster Care Program record, a separate Student Programs record is published for each school, with start and end dates reflecting each school’s enrollment.

Student Migrant Education Programs

This view captures information about student Migrant Education program participation as published in the StudentMigrantEducationProgram Association resource within the Student Program category. The layout includes the School Name, Student Number, Student Name, Gender, and Grade Level, along with the Program, Entry Date, Exit Date, Reason Exited, Priority for Services, Last Qualifying Move Date, Ed-Fi Unique ID, Last Publish Date, and the Publishing ID.

This association represents the Migrant Education program(s) in which a student participates or is served. The association is an extension of the StudentProgramAssociation for Migrant Education programs.

Note: Migrant Education Program data is separate from the studentClassification Migrant flag ('I') and requires a Migrant SpEnrollments record in the selected school year. This is a change from previous releases. Since PowerSchool now fully supports the Ed-Fi studentMigrantEducationProgramAssociation resource, abbreviated Migrant Education program data is no longer published in the general studentProgamAssociation resource. Setting the studentClassification Migrant flag alone will not generate a corresponding student program record as it previously did.

Selection Criteria

Records are published if the following criteria are met:

  • The student was published in the Student Parent category.

  • StudentUniqueId must be populated in PowerSchool.

  • The student must not be excluded from state reporting.

  • The programReference must refer to a program record previously downloaded in the Program resource in the Education Organization category.

  • The student has a Migrant SpEnrollments program record where the beginDate for the program association falls with the year for the Term selected in the PowerSchool UI.

Resource Output

  • A separate studentMigrantEducationProgramAsssociation record is published for each student and migrant program that meets the selection criteria.

  • The studentMigrantEducationProgramAssociation resource is dependent on the prior publishing of the following resources: student.

  • LEAs and Schools may upload (publish) data to the ODS in real time or on-demand ("Run Now" button).

  • If the Alternative Education record was valid during all enrollments, the published records are identical except for the begin date and schoolId.

  • If the Alternative Education beginDate is after the end of enrollment, it should not be published for that enrollment.

  • If the Alternative Education record has an end date after July 1st but before the start of the school year term, the record must be published with the schoolId of the the first enrollment (a no-show enrollment).

  • If a student is enrolled in an Alternative Program that is not valid for their school district then a dependency message appears while publishing, "Dependency on Unmatched Program LEAOrgID".
