Daily Discipline Student Data

Introduction

This file should be submitted on a daily basis if students are suspended or expelled for a violent incident. This file is used to transmit student level data to MSIS for informational use only.

Incidents are grouped into the following types:

  • Alternative Education codes are used to track reasons for remanding students to Alternative School and do not count in aggregate numbers of incidents for the school/district. This data may be used to determine funding for alternative programs.
  • Persistently Dangerous School codes must be reported within 72 hours of occurrence.
  • State Law codes are incident codes reported to track dispositions and may be reported in the monthly submission.

Selection Criteria

Selection criteria determine which database records are used in the report. Refer to selection criteria for analysis when the report does not return the correct records.

Log Entry Selection

The report selects records from the [Log] table based on the following criteria:

  • The log entry must be associated with a school included in the report, either the current school, or an alternate school, based on the criteria entered at report runtime.
  • The log entry date must match the Date to Scan entered at report runtime.
  • The log type must match the log type entered at report runtime.
  • The students included in the report must have a log entry that meets the criteria listed above.
