Configuring DEX for MSIS 2.0

Configuring DEX for MSIS 2.0 is fully automated and requires user intervention for these steps:

  1. Under the Plugin Management Configuration screen, enable the PowerSchool Data Exchange (DEX) plugin.

  2. Under the General Setup of DEX, add the Authentication Key and Secret from the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE), turn the system on, and test the connection to the MSIS 2.0 ODS.

After step 1, a new CEDS 2023-2024 profile is added to the PowerSchool Data Exchange (DEX). The profile code is CEDS_MS_1 and the profile is enabled.

The detailed instructions for step 2 are as follows:

  1. Go to System Administrator, Data Exchange, and click General Setup.

  2. Under the General Options, select the On option for the System Enabled field.

  3. Under the Communication Settings, the fields are pre-configured as follows:

    • Data Exchange URL:

    • Authentication URL:

    • The 2023-2024 school year is checked.

    • Both Service Options are checked.

  4. Under the Action column corresponding to the LEA name, click Configure. A pop-up window appears.

  5. Enter the Authentication Key and Authentication Secret from the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE).

  6. Click Test Connection to test the connection to the MSIS 2.0 ODS. The “Test Successful” message appears in the pop-up window if the connection is successful.

  7. Click Save on the dialog box.

  8. Click Save again on the main page.

Important: You must save two times for the configuration to be set up correctly.
