PSSR-300205Industry Certifications: Data Entry Validations and PEIMS Student Interchange Updates

TX Interchange Student : Version 22.9.2
Updates are now available to the Industry Certifications data collection and to the reporting of IBC’s in the PEIMS Student Interchange.

  • Data Collection: State/Province - TX > Graduation Information > Performance Acknowledgements > Certifications/Licensures
    • With the introduction of the new IBC Certification Result (E1733) element for 2022-23 reporting, students can now have multiple records for the same IBC Code. The data entry validations are now updated to support this model.
    • There is no change to IBC records dated prior to 06/01/2022. By default, these earlier records indicate that students earned the certification; only a single record per IBC code can be entered.
    • In records dated 06/02/2022 and beyond, multiple records can be entered as long as they conform to these validations:
      • If IBC Certification Result = 3 (IBC Exam Failed), the same IBC code can be selected in one or more other records where IBC Certification Result is also 3 as long as the date in the records is different.
      • If IBC Certification Result = 2 (IBC Exam Passed/IBC Not Earned), the same IBC code can be selected in another record as long as the Date in the records is different, and the IBC Certification Result is different (i.e., IBC Result = 1 or 3).
      • If IBC Certification Result = 1 (IBC Earned), the same IBC code can be selected in another record as long as the Date in the records is different, and the IBC Certification Result is different (i.e., IBC Result = 2 or 3).
  • Student Interchange: For the Fall and Summer PEIMS submissions, multiple industry certification records for the same IBC code are now supported.
PSSR-300365Staff Interchange Updated for Excluded Staff

TX Interchange Staff Association: Version 22.9.2
New logic is now implemented for all TSDS and PEIMS collections to reference the ‘Exclude from PEIMS/TSDS’ setting on the Staff Information page, which was added in a previous release. Staff are now excluded when this field (S_USR_X.State_ExcludeFromReporting) is set to Yes/1.

PSSR-300825State Reporting Pages Now Compatible with Counselors Icon

For districts running core PowerSchool SIS version 22.6 or later, the new Counselors icon in the student detail header row no longer causes a conflict with state reporting pages. Previously, some state pages would hang in a "Loading" state when the page was submitted. Districts can now re-enable the Counselors icon by selecting this option: School > Setup > General > Miscellaneous > Show student counselors on detail line.

PSSR-300828TREx Updates: Course Sequence Codes and Store Code Mapping

TREx Extract: Version 22.9.2
TREx Extract by Student Number: Version 22.9.2
The logic related to Course Sequence Codes and Texas Store Code Mapping for the Current Coursework and Academic Session complex types has been updated and simplified to ensure all record are reported as expected, including special course scenarios and self-paced courses taught in any term.
When included in Store Code Mapping, Marking Period Grades are reported in the TREx Current Coursework complex for current year, non-completed classes in progress where final grades do not yet exist. Final Grades mapped to S1, S2 or AV are reported in the Academic Session complex for courses or course parts completed during the current year and in historical years as long as final grades have been entered.
A summary of the Course Sequence Code and Store Code Mapping requirements follows.

  • Elementary/Middle Non-HS Credit – Course Sequence A: Texas store code mapping for the AV Final Average grade must be set up in the same term as the scheduling term for the section.
    • Coded as “Use Default Setup” or as A in Courses; A in Sections or Stored Grades
    • Otherwise, Course Sequence A is calculated based on the “Eligible for HS Credit” setting in the TEA C022 Service ID Table.
    • Course Sequence A courses can be taught in any term.
  • Non-calculated HS Credit Course Sequence Codes for classes scheduled into a single term: Texas Store Code Mapping must be set up in the same term as the scheduling term.
    • Course Sequence 0 (Single Term/Single Semester only): Coded as 1 in Courses; 0 in Sections or Stored Grades.
    • Single part of two part course: Typically scheduled in the semester terms; sometimes scheduled in the quarter terms; may be scheduled in the year term if self-paced or credit recovery.
      • Course Sequence 1 (Part 1 of 2): Coded as F in Courses; 1 in Sections or Stored Grades
      • Course Sequence 2 (Part 2 of 2): Coded as S in Courses; 2 in Sections or Stored Grades
    • Single part of four part course: Typically scheduled in the semester or quarter terms
      • Course Sequence 6 (Part 1 of 4): Coded as 6 in Courses, Sections or Stored Grades
      • Course Sequence 7 (Part 2 of 4): Coded as 7 in Courses, Sections or Stored Grades
      • Course Sequence 8 (Part 3 of 4): Coded as 8 in Courses, Sections or Stored Grades
      • Course Sequence 9 (Part 4 of 4): Coded as 9 in Courses, Sections or Stored Grades.
  • Calculated HS Credit Course Sequence Codes for multi-part classes taught in the Year Term: Texas Store Code Mapping must be set up in the semester, trimester, or quarter terms.
    • These settings are available only at the Courses level.
    • Courses scheduled in the Year Term are split into 2, 3, or 4 course part records using the corresponding semester, trimester or quarter term dates as the begin and end dates for each course part. Course sequence codes are calculated based on these settings.
      • (2) Semesters – HS Credit – Year Long: Reported as Course Sequence Codes 1 and 2.
      • (3) Trimesters - HS Credit – Year Long: Reported as Course Sequence Codes 3, 4, and 5.
      • (4) Quarters – HS Credit – Year Long: Reported as Course Sequence Codes 6, 7, 8, and 9.
  • Calculated HS Credit Course Sequence Codes for two-part Accelerated classes: Texas Store Code Mapping must be set up in the quarter terms.
    • X – Accelerated – HS Credit – Semester: This setting is available in Courses and Sections.
    • PowerSchool Texas definition: “Accelerated” refers to a two-part course that is normally completed in one year such as Algebra I or English II (half credit awarded each semester) but is instead completed in half the time (full credit awarded at the end of one semester).
    • Sections are taught in the semester terms and the full year curriculum is completed in a single semester.
    • The single semester course is split into two parts for TEA reporting and reported with Course Sequence Codes 1 and 2.
    • The accelerated model requires that quarter terms be defined as these dates are used to calculate the begin and end dates of each of the two parts.
    • If your district’s courses do not conform to the PowerSchool Accelerated model, a Course Sequence Code other than X must be assigned to the course or section.
