Rules for Defining Incidents
Use the following rules when defining discipline incidents using Incident Management. Please note that the order in which the elements below are listed is the order in which they should be input when entering an incident.
Incident Type |
State reportable incidents must be associated with the incident type NM State Reporting^. |
Incident Date |
State reportable incidents must have an incident date that falls within the current reporting year. |
Offender |
At least one student offender must be defined for each incident. Multiple offenders per incident are allowed. |
Behavior |
At least one state reportable behavior (infraction) must be defined for at least one of the student offenders. Multiple behaviors are allowed per offender; however one of the behaviors must be the primary behavior. While there may be multiple behaviors per incident, only one can be marked as the primary behavior. |
Action |
At least one state reportable action (response) must be associated to the state reportable behavior. |
Object |
Objects are conditionally necessary for New Mexico state reporting. If using an object code is required (due to the selected behavior code implying the use/presence of a weapon/object), they must be associated with each offender. Objects are used to define the weapon used by an offender. |
Victim |
It is not necessary to define victims to report an incident, but if a victim is defined, the victim subcode must be selected (student, teacher, administrator, etc.). |
Location |
Location codes are NOT necessary for New Mexico state reporting. Location codes can be set up and used, but they will not be reported in the New Mexico Discipline domain extracts. |
Witness |
Witnesses are not reported. |
Reporter |
Reporters are not reported. |
Attribute |
Incident attributes are mandatory for New Mexico state reporting. |
