Attendance

State guidelines for attendance reporting have been modified for the 2021-2022 school year.  For specifications on these changes, please refer to the https://www.nj.gov/education/finance/register/ website which outlines the requirements for tracking student attendance and accounting as mentioned in subchapter 8 of the School District Operations Administrative code, 6A:32.  To support these student attendance guidelines for State Reporting, the following setup is needed:


Attendance Conversions:

Students must be reported as present or absent with either a 0 or 1 attendance value per scheduled day.  Shared-Time students must be reported as present or absent with a max of .5 attendance value per scheduled day.  School Attendance Conversions must be configured to support the state attendance guidelines.

Below are the required attendance categories for State Reporting.

  • Religious holiday
  • Take Our Children to Work Day
  • Participation in observance of Veterans’ Day or Board of Election membership activities
  • Closure of a busing district leaving students without transportation to receiving district
  • College visits (limited to a maximum of three days per year for 11th & 12th graders)
  • Other rule issued by the Department of Education Commissioner
