Configuring DEX for KEDS

Configuring DEX for KEDS is fully automated and requires user intervention for these steps:

1. Under the Plugin Management Configuration screen, enable the PowerSchool Data Exchange (DEX) plugin.

2. Under the General Setup of DEX, add the Authentication Key and Secret from the Kansas Department of Education, turn the system on, and test the connection to the KEDS ODS.

To access the Plugin Management Dashboard, sign in to PowerSchool at the district level.

The detailed instructions for step 2 are as follows:

1. Go to System Administrator, Data Exchange, and click General Setup.

2. Under the General Options, select the On option for the System Enabled field.

3. Under the Communication Settings, the fields are pre-configured as follows:

   • Data Exchange URL: https://edfiapi.ksde.org/api/

   • Authentication URL: https://edfiapi.ksde.org/api/

   • The 2025-2026 school year is checked.

   • In Service Options, Data Changes (unchecked), Publish (checked).

4. Under the Action column corresponding to the LEA name, click Configure. A pop-up window appears.

5. Enter the Authentication Key and Authentication Secret from the Kansas Department of Education.

6. Click Test Connection to test the connection to the KEDS ODS. The “Test Successful” message appears in the pop-up window if the connection is successful.

7. Click Save on the dialog box.

8. Click Save again on the main page.
