Manually Create/Edit Codes & Subcodes

Use the steps below to manually create or edit incident codes and subcodes. See theAppendix for data entry details.

  1. Navigate to Start Page > District Setup > Incident Management > Code & Subcode Setup.
  2. Click the appropriate code type (Action Codes, Attribute Codes, etc.).
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To add a new code for that code type, click the Plus button to the right of the code type heading.
    • To edit an existing code, click the code and then click the Pencil button. Note that fewer options appear if the code has already been created.

4. Enter the following, using values from the Appendix:

    • Code Type: Leave the appropriate code type as-is.
    • Category: Enter the name of the code.
    • State Aggregate Report Code: Enter the code value.
    • Display Order: The order in which you’d like the code to display relative to other codes of this code type.
    • Subcodes: Choose whether to divide the code into subcodes.
    • State Detail Report Code: Enter the code value.
    • Reportable: Choose whether the code is state and/or police reportable.
    • Comments: Choose whether to allow or make comments mandatory.

5. Click Submit.

6. To enter subcodes, do one of the following:

    • To add a subcode, click an existing code and then click the Plus button next to the code.
    • To edit a subcode, click an existing subcode and then click the Pencil button.

7. Enter the following using values from the Appendix:

    • Subcode: Enter the name of the subcode.
    • Description: Enter the short & full descriptions, which are likely to be the same.
    • State Detail Report Code: Enter the code value.
    • Display Order: Enter the order in which you’d like the subcode to display in relation to other subcodes for this category.
    • Reportable: Choose whether the subcode is state and/or police reportable.
    • Comments: Choose whether to allow or make comments mandatory.

8. Click Submit.
