PSSR-286268Automate Discipline Log Entries Incident Number Generation

Select Student > Administration > Log Entries
The Iowa Discipline Log Entries page is now updated with a new feature to automatically generate a unique Behavior Incident Number using the Unix Epoch timestamp approach. After selecting Discipline as the Log Entry Type, a Generate button now appears to the right of the E0005 - Behavior Incident Number element on the Iowa State Report Information panel.

  • If you click Generate, a dialog box appears with the message, “Did this incident involve multiple students?”,
    • If you click No, a confirmation appears: “Incident Number Generated successfully”, and the number is automatically populated in the Behavior Incident Number field.
    • If you click Yes, a dialog box with the second question appears, “Is this the first student involved in the incident?”.
      • If you click Yes, a confirmation appears, “Incident Number Generated successfully and copied to clipboard. Please use this Behavior Incident Number for all other students involved in this incident.” The number is automatically populated in the Behavior Incident Number field, copied to the clipboard, and also temporarily stored for subsequent display when the user creates an additional Log Entry.
      • If you click No, a warning is displayed, “You must use the Behavior Incident Number that was generated for the first student involved in this incident.” The number is not populated and the Generate button is disabled.
  • Display and Copy/Paste of Prior Behavior Incident Numbers in New Log Entries
    • If a user generates an incident number for an incident involving multiple students, the number is copied to the clipboard and can be pasted directly into the next Log Entry for the second student, assuming the user enters records for each student in sequence and has not copied other content.
    • The three most recent numbers for multi-student incidents generated by the user are also temporarily stored until the next day and appear just below the Behavior Incident Number when the user creates a new Log Entry. The user can highlight, copy, and paste the number into the new Log Entry for the additional student(s).
