Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC) 2023 - 2024
Introduction
The purpose of the U.S. Department of Education's Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC) is to obtain data related to the nation's public school districts' and elementary and secondary schools' obligation to provide equal educational opportunity. To fulfill this goal, the CRDC collects a variety of information, including student enrollment and educational programs and services data, that are disaggregated by race/ethnicity, sex, limited English proficiency, and disability. The CRDC is a longstanding and important aspect of the Department's Office for Civil Rights overall strategy for administering and enforcing the civil rights statutes for which it is responsible. This information is also used for policymaking by other ED offices, other federal agencies, and researchers outside of ED.
Refer to this section for Colorado state CRDC setup items at the District, School, Staff, and Student levels and for CRDC report details.
The Colorado Department of Education will submit the 2023-24 data it has collected from local education agencies into the Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC) system to assist districts with this federal collection. Then CDE will leave it to districts to fill in the missing information and update any data. The column “**User Input Expected in UI” in the tables of the sub-sections indicates Y - a user input is expected in the UI, OR N - the data element is provided by the CDE (Colorado Department of Education).
For more details on the data elements CDE provides, refer to the CRDC document on the CDE website. Column A “CDE Providing Data?” in the “2023-24 CRDC School File” tab of the CDE document indicates if the field is provided by the State. Fields with this value as N are the fields reported out of PowerSchool in the CRDC 2023-2024 report. Fields with this value as Y are provided by the CDE.
