Troubleshooting Connectivity Failures

The following issues can occur when there is a connectivity failure to PASI Core.

Message/Problem

Solution

No access to PASI functionality in PowerSchool.

PASI Direct Connect Plugin is disabled within PowerSchool.

Enable the PASI Direct Connect Plugin. See Enable PASI Direct Connect Plugin for more information.

Access Denied. The client certificate being used has been disabled.

 

Alberta Education Digital Certificates are disabled by PASI Readiness team.

Contact the PASI Readiness Team to activate the Alberta Education Digital Certificates by sending an email to PASI.Readiness@gov.ab.ca.

Alberta Education Digital Certificates have expired.

Renew the PASI Digital Certification. See Renew PASI Digital Certificates for more information.

Request Unsuccessful. A problem has occurred within PASI. If the problem persists, contact the PASI Support Desk.

Alberta PASI Web Service URL setting in PowerSchool is incorrect or has typo errors.

Check the web service URL as described in the Test Connectivity section and try again. After receiving a successful response from HelloWorld, you must restart PowerSchool/PowerTeacher service, since the URL is cached for synchronization.

Access Denied. The client certificate being used does not contain valid information.

Alberta Client Certificate Key is not imported correctly into the PowerSchool Digital Certificate Manager or an invalid certificate was received from Alberta Education Ministry.

Request a new Alberta Client Certificate Key and try again.

PASI connection failed. Internal Error. Connection reset.

Firewall prevents access to Alberta PASI Web Service URL.

Ensure that the Firewall allows access to the PASI web service URL. Refer to the Test Connectivity section for more information.

Request Unsuccessful. Service Unavailable. If the problem persists, contact the PASI Support Desk.

PASI Core is unavailable due to maintenance or is not responsive due to heavy load.

Contact PASI Client Services helpdesk to check status by sending an email to cshelpdesk@gov.ab.ca. Wait for PASI Core to become available.
